I'm with you guys there. Just to quick to go for the money.

If I was doing enclosed water dives I'd definitely want some spare air along. I just figure you can only carry so much stuff, not just cost but also climbing over rocks to entry sites can be bad enough without so much stuff hanging off you that you can't see your feet!

The irony for me is that in all of the speculation we have discussed on this thread about guilt or innocence, the most damaging piece of circumstantial evidence I have read about is Gabe Watson’s desire to get money from some source after his wife’s death, first the insurance, then the dive op, then the travel agency. This sends up more red flags for me than the other ruminations.

Don't forget, he's supposed to be living in HER house now, too...

I've have been looking, but thought that an outside source would be more circumspect. The only reason I asked is that it seemed you had a link and/or information that I had yet to find.

No, the only information I have is from the Coroner's report which has been linked to a few times on here. If you want transcripts of the minimal fine imposed on Mike Ball Expeditions from the Magistrates Court at Townsville you have to apply to them and pay a fee. I don't believe that is going to shed any light on this case though, so I'm not sure what relevancy being critical of their company's practices has here.

I have not read the whole thread and caught a bit the story on Foxnews. From the picture they showed, it appeared to me that he had his octopus, second secondary reg, backup reg " In his right hand " looking back at his wife going down and another diver going towards her.

I wondered why he had his octopus in his right hand, it seemed very strange to me. I might be mistaken, can someone clarify this for me.

Did I really see this?

That picture is not of the husband...it's another tourist...it just happened to show her in the background...

But I do think that photo is VERY telling...he said the current was ripping...It sure doesn't look like it from that pic.

Hey guys,
Check out Nancy Grace on this accident, July 4 at 9:00p.m. Central. Discussing the indictment.

Haven't yet had time to see it, but I hope she doesn't start nearly crying again, tell her personal diving stories or share her "diving expertise". :no (There are quotation marks around the last one for a reason...)

First off, I am not jumping on any bandwagons and criticizing anyone. In fact I have already stated that I don’t feel that dive ops and instructors ought to be made liable for punitive damages for frivilous reasons. That holds here too. My reason for asking you was to see if the fines impossed were in fact connected with this case or if they were connected with other unrelated issues I had read about. I accept that you don’t have these answers any more than anyone else does.

Okay, living in the house they were meant to have as a couple isn’t great under the circumstances, but I don’t think it is necessarily a red flag. The video Tina’s parents show of him using bolt cutters to remove the flowers they had left on her grave with a box cutter is, however. What is that all about?

I did watch her go on and on the other day, and I can see why she has earned your scorn. One piece of dandy info she doled out was that divers cannot take photographs in strong current, thus the photo we see is proof enough that he is a liar.

This is surprising to me because I took quite a few photos in Palau with some hefty currents, especially in German Channel on a killer drift dive. I must not be viewing this from the prosecutorial-diver slant, one prefaced on the idea that one is guilty until proven innocent.

Again, if he is guilty then let the case be made on something more substantial than innuendo of falsehoods about how divers react once in the water.

Cheers!

Sorry DadAvocate, you missed my point:

On several posts, people have questioned the motive (even if he thought he was going to get the life insurance money -which he didn't, it was still only about USD130K). My point is that after her death, he also got to keep the home (which, as I understand it from news reports, was in HER name only). True, he's still living there, but maybe he hasn't sold it yet because it wouldn't look too good. But yes, he's benefited from her death.

What I haven't seen mentioned (and I'm surprised the police or a private dectective hasn't investigated) is what happened during the first days of their honeymoon. Remember: they toured Sidney for several days before going up to Queensland for the diving.

I'd be very curious to know if anyone had seen them fighting, her flirting with another man, etc. Based on the msnbc.com story, Gabe was a very jealous, controlling man. I'm surprised nobody has tried to find out if something happened during the first few days of the honeymoon that could have set him off.

Chasing after money? If he had a good attorney, it probably was in the attorney's hand. I would not say that he necessary is the one chasing after the money.

He is still innocent until proven guilty. I am very doubtful that he will ever be found guilty.
