Good choice. After awhile you will tire of the games anyway. My Xbox360 has only been turned on to watch a diving video on it over the last 3 months. Plus you get to go out and experience nature.

My non-diving sister tells me there's a great scuba game for Wii... apparently it's all about fish identification. If scuba doesn't work for you, I'd try that.

Ok, not really.

Had an interesting conversation with my 15 y/o son after he finished his checkout dives for his open water. He said to me that he didn't think scuba was his 'forte'. I didn't press, but when he brought it up the next day, he explained that he'd get more enjoyment out of it if he could guarantee that he'd see something spectacular every time he dived.

I guess it's an age thing; Every time I dive I hope I'll see something spectacular, but I am still happy just to be there, regardless. It might not be a Leatherback or a Great Hammerhead, but just hovering and watching everything that happens on the reef can be pretty awe inspiring all by itself.

Your experience will vary, I suppose. I agree with the earlier poster though: Get off the couch & dive!

I signed up and bought all my equipment =D. I'll get a PS3 later on.

Congratulations! But of course (just about) everybody on this board would encourage you to dive in reality vs. digitally. Just don't forget, in real life you only get one life! (that was a joke)

Hi Raphyy,
Welcome to Scuba Board. I believe you made a very wise decision. While a PS3 can indeed be a lot of fun, it is obsolete before you buy it. The next version is already being planned before yours hits the store.
Diving however is never obsolete. I've been doing it for over 40 years, and I'm still having new adventures. Plus it will get you outside and active, which is something everyone needs to do more of.
Let us know how you make out with your course and if you can send us some pics. Trust me, the first time you see your 1st large palegic, whether it's a shark, dolphin, turtle or whatever - it'll be much more of a thrill than Grand Theft Auto could ever hope to be. Besides, once you start diving, many of your friends will become curious and maybe want to try it too. You could be the head of your neighborhood dive club.

You can always get a gameboy to play during surface intervals.

Happy diving

A 139 minute conversion. Praise the Lord.

I was wondering about that. Did he get his C-card?
