Thats an awesome website, thanks! Bookmarked!

I wasn't even sure it was a sea slug to be honest. I did have a book "Ospitobranches of Izu" but I left it in my dive bag in a recent Ozesaki thunderstorm and all the pages get joined together... will have to search for another copy.

You really are the king of macro work Geoff

I'm jealous.... I'd like to blame my camera but I don't think I can

At the risk of stating the obvious, some type of sea slug. I have no idea what kind though.

Email imamoto@umiushi.info with your info (location, depth, water temp, and the like) and he may be able to help.

I've taked with Imamato-san over email, and he thinks it is not a sea-slug, most likely it is some kind of anenome....

Geoff,

I've got the G9 as well, but haven't got any shots like that... still bumbling about I guess. However, got to say I do love the Camera. I've got some great shots out of it. I just need to spend some time with a proper photographer to get them to show me how it all works!

Which case are you using? Canons own? Or 3rd party? External strobe?

I'm still bumbling about too... The case is Canon's own, no strobe, just using the internal flash.

I am thinking to start moving away from the UW/mode and try shots at F8, 1/60'th and try varying the ISO to get it correctly exposed... fed up of the camera deciding F2.8 and having 1/3rd of the picture sharp. Need more depth of focus! Then it doesn't matter so much if I miss the ideal focal point :)

I will be going to Ozesaki this weekend, should give me a good chance to mess around with the camera, will try and find a buddy who also wants to take pictures.

Wow... same set-up... good job. Just go tthe artistic flair I guess. I've tried playing around with the P, Av and Tv settings, but not got enough ingrained photography to be able to do it on the fly before a fish darts off... I've got lots of shots of pretty coral. Time to start studying the books.

I used to have a buddy who liked to take pictures of fish... but now he just takes pictures of his kid instead!

Laugh it up fuzzball.
I'm not as good as Geoff, but I just posted a few from my Miyazaki trip. And as soon as I find an infant size regulator I'm lending the kid my pony bottle and we're good to go!

LOL :)

Here is on from Ozesaki this weekend. I tried to improve the depth of field and happy with the first experiment.
