I was thinking of having one made for when I am diving and/or away from home. Something simple from here is what I had in mind. Do any of you have one of these?

FYI - ICE = In Case of Emergency
Bracelet would have family phone numbers on it.

Yes, I do. I have one from Road ID, I wear it running, cycling, and sometimes when diving too.

Peace of mind that my family gets notified if there is an accident, and that doctors don't waste any time trying to figure out my blood type, though I am not sure that precaution is necessary...

No, but that's a great link. Thanks!

+1

Got it initially when I was cycling and just carried it over to diving

Damn good idea...better then the having to cross out my address and phone number every time I move...gets expensive at the tattoo shop!!:D

I don't have a special id but I wrote my emergency contact numbers and a statement saying "Not taking any medications, no allergies" on the back of one of my business cards and laminated it. I keep one in my wallet and I have one that I stick in a pocket when I'm out running.

R..

Personally, I have no one to contact except an old orange cat named Leo and he couldn't care less as long as I give him a portion of deer meat once or twice a day. That's all he'd miss.

Aside from my driver's license and cert card, no ID so far. I plan on getting a set of military dog tags, since I only dive fresh water (so far) they should last a while. At $5/set it's a lot less expensive than some other options

I had a personal experience with a diver buddy who did NOT have emergency contact information on him where, because his family could not be quickly located while he was in the hospital, he slipped into unconsciousness before his family could get to the hospital. He died a few days later, which may have been inevitable, but his family were only a couple hours away and certainly could have at least talked to him before he slipped away.

For lack of a simple emergency contact tag, this man's family did not get to speak to him before he was gone for good.

I always dive with my DAN Tag attached to my gear, up front and in plain sight. But anything similar will do, just make sure it's on YOU, not in your gear bag, in your car, etc. Because the paramedics might not get all that, but they will have YOU.
