Has anyone ever payed the money and tried to scuba dive an aquarium? I have heard of large aquariums in the bigger cities like the Shedd aquarium in Chicago allow divers to dive them for a price.

Yes i do that frequently. We have an aquarium thats 9m deep with some sand tigers. Its just awesome diving there. Im also currently volunteering there, so i get to dive for free and scrub some algae.

I also paid to dive in Australia's Seaworld, leapord sharks and eagle rays. Was worth it even though was only 2m deep.

I've not paid for it, but as a volunteer diver I get to dive regularly at an aquarium. From that perspective...

Diving in an aquarium is cheaper than taking a trip, so it might be a nice idea in the cold winter.

You will get to dive with things you may otherwise never get to, so the experience of seeing a cool animal might be worth the price of admission.

Give it a shot, even if you hate it, it is worth doing once to see.

The animals in the aquarium are not shy typically, so if there is a species you really dig, you will have a better chance of getting close to it in aquraium rather than in the wild.

You will get to show off for friends and family, which is always cool.

We have one here in Denver that lets you dive with some sharks and other marine life. I have not done it yet but it is defenitly on the "to-do" list.

I know that the aquariums in Atlanta, Baltimore, and Walt Disney World will let you do it. DOn't know the cost though. You do have to use most of their equipment except for your mask. You can bring that and maybe your wetsuit but I'm not 100% sure about the wetsuit.

The Florida Aquarium in Tampa also allows diving.

It has been awhile since I lived in MD, but they used to make you volunteer for a certain amount of time in order to be allowed to dive in the tanks. It was a heck of a commitment. Worth looking into just the same. Mark

Yes, I envinsion diving the Shedd Aquarium in Chicago and have my kids watch from the outside. I think that would be cool for everyone. I think it cost around $150 if I'm not mistaken.

Dive NY is going to the baltimore aquarium in march to dive it. If you are interested hop on over or pm scubaSamantha,
