Moldable Mouth Piece.

Hello All,
Can any one spoon feed me info on where to obtain a moldable mouth piece for my jet streams?
I seem to be having no luck with Google or similar searches.
For instance, these guys

APEKS, POSEIDON, most rebreathers cannot use a SeaCure

Is it even Advisable/possible?

You are out of luck. I am having buyer's remorse after I bought 2 SeaCures. These incredibly expensive things look like they had great promise. My DM advised me about which ones to buy for my reg and my wife's. My wife's molded fine, but then when she went to use it, it has a little bur on it that rubs on her gum. She spit it out and there was the first wasted $$.

To be fair, I screwed mine up by trying to get it to fit a Poseidon. The instructions are clear not to let the mouthpiece side get into the water, but it didn't fit and he told me it would work. I know something about thermo-forming plastics....or so I thought. So to get it to fit, I dipped it into the water to try and soften it. This thing shriveled up like a salted slug! or a wet popcorn kernel, or or acetone on styrofoam, or any other shriveling up analogy you want.

Total damage $70 worth of SeaCures.

I called SeaCure and asked about it. The lady, who was very nice BTW, offered me nothing but sympathy or to buy another one at a reduced price. I really can't recommend these things until they improve them and make them fit Poseidon or get better remediation if you do have a problem. I believe in theory they would be great. I'd really like to try one. But the thrill of blowing that much money is short lived when you watch your money shrivel up and become all deformed after dipping in a pan of water.

Make my remorse your education.

I use the Sea Cure Pro Model II on both my Apeks (XTX 200 and XTX 50) and Poseidon (X-Stream) regs. I softened the opening by placing it briefly in hot water, and stretched it gently around the second stage. I saw the Sea Cure booth doing this at DEMA and I tried it myself - works great!

Tim can you indicate roughly the temperature of the water and the length of immersion time?

Had some fun molding my SeaCure but got there in the end after the second try.

Seacure say you can mold it as many times as you like, don't think i would like to try it though.

I have the hi flow II fitted to my Sherwood SR1 and i have to say its a good fit and very comfortable to use - but that's just my humble.

The recommended temp ala ''instructions'' is boiling point. Recommended immersion is approximately no more than 25 seconds, remembering to shake of excess water before placing in your mouth or you will end up looking like Mickey Rourke.

My vote against is not against function. I have actually never gotten to try it. To be clear, I did something the instructions say not to. I immersed the regulator end in the hot water. It literally shriveled up like a deflated balloon. I have two points of sour taste in my mouth. One is the inflated price and two; is the companies unwillingness to exchange mine for a non-shriveled up one. I am surprised to hear they dipped the regulator side in hot water at DEMA as their instructions are clear about this.
On one level they are perfectly fair. I paid the price, took the chance, and failed. However, at the manufacturing cost they pay, I felt they could have done me a favor and exchanged mine at the cost of shipping and handling. That's all. Of course, (again to be fair) outrageous customer service is a thing of the past. People are squeezing every penny these days, including myself. If I had tons of money to throw away, I would have no remorse, and would say la vie.
Had they exchanged mine, I may not be writing this, and they would get no publicity at all on this forum.
Bottom line, in theory, it is a great product; however priced as a medical device. When I get stinking rich, I may try another.

As I mentioned, dip it briefly (I think I tried 5 seconds at first).

If that doesn't stretch it sufficiently, try again slightly longer.

If you put the regulator end as long as you would the mouthpiece end (around 25 seconds), it definitely will shrivel up pretty bad.

Sorry to hear about your lost (expensive) mouthpiece.

Did you try remolding it??



I love mine but, its turned a barfy yellow like a cigarette stain color.

I wish they had the blue one when I got mine.
