On the gloves point, Scubazanchary has something there. I can't say I have ever bought my dive gloves at Home Depot, but I do use the thinnest clove I can get away with. It is just so much easier to reload my gun, string the fish, etc., with a thing "tropical" style clove. Never thought of Home Depot....not a bad idea.

I have a set of scubapro tropical gloves that I haven't used in a long time but a basically new, one dove a couple of dives on them, leather palms and fingers, but thin enough for good dexterity.

I use Mechanix style gloves with good success. I also carry a pair of dive shears for clipping off nasty stinging spines (I spear alot of Sculpins).

a good first aid kit on the boat, i had to dig sea urchin out of my knee with a dive knife once i'd like to never do that again. one my top 10 of most painful things.

A speargun with all stainless steel trigger, sear AND line release....:D:D:D

Would that be your new Oceanic series Dano? Love your gun, but that Ocean Rhino is looking mighty nice!

Thanks! actually ALL our guns are equipped with SS trigger, sear and line release. The predator pro has a plastic sleeve to widen the trigger and to improve comfort, but the "parts" are all stainless steel. Some speargun manufacturers are still using plastic for some of those component(s).:no:

The new Oceanic series will be out in a few weeks, and we've had very good feedback on it (as well as the new muzzles).

This link provides some tools to help people compare and evaluate speargns (and also manufacturer warranties and financing options as well). We want you to compare our guns to everything else on the market.

MAKO Spearguns - Why Railguns Are Superior

ICE & a suitable cooler. While no expert on spear fishing as I am just getting started, I am and have been a fisherman for many years... Ice is imperative. Clean and ice your catch as soon as you are topside and done taking the pictures. Keep the quality of the fish pristine.
BUT, before you clean the fish, know the local laws. In NY and most other states, you cannot fillet or remove the head of a fish. Only gutting is allowed so that sizes may be confirmed (I think there is a provision for filleting but saving the racks, but that can get touchy).
Remember, many of the fish you catch or spear is likely to be much better than anything commercially caught as these fish are abused and borderline spoiled as they measure their catch by the tonnage, have faulty holds and may take a long time before the fish goes to processing.
Enjoy!
