Anybody ever dove this lake? It's in between Lake LBJ and Travis, I'm thinking of doing an exploratory dive there next week.

If that is the lake that has the big "pit" in it, there are some on here that dove it.

you mean Bluebonnet Hole? I did a search and saw some info on it, was disappointed to see that it only went to 90 feet. However, it would seem an interesting dive nonetheless.

Does Marble Falls have any deep pit areas? We were thinking of diving below the highway bridge, as it looks more "blue" and deeper than the rest of the lake.

I live in Horseshoe Bay right down the street. While i've never dove lake Marble Falls I can give you some information on it.

1)It is very shallow.
2) The bridge area would probably be the best. South of the bridge (up stream) are the actual marble falls that gave the town its name. Would be cool to check out.
3) you could either enter from the boat ramp or the rv park on the other side. they have docks.

Wish I would be in town, I would go with you. But I have to go back to school.

Yup, that's mostly why we wanted to dive the lake, to see if the "falls" were still there. Thanks for the info!

Well, we couldn't go diving that day, my buddy had (has?) an ear infection, and i was coughin a bit as well, didn't feel up to it. I'll post a report when we get a chance to go down there, though!

The body that was found was actually found on Inks Lake. Also, the "falls" was never much of a falls and consisted of a rocky outcropping of rocks, not very tall in height. You can find photos online. Due to the river basin, it is indeed very shallow in most areas, like 20' shallow. The RV park on the south side of the 281 bridge would be a good spot and downstream from there are rocky ledges along the banks, leading me to think it might be a bit deeper and clearer water. I've yet to dive it.

Also, I've been living near the Highland Lakes area since 2002 and have not heard of Bluebonnet Hole. If you are interested in other interesting areas not related to diving, there is Dead Mans Hole, between RR 2147 east and SH 71 east, and I think along CR 401. It was a deep pit where people were hung and dropped into the pit, back in the cowboy days...
