Dead body trivia:

Bodies generally won't float in water colder than about 60-65 degrees. They don't decompose fast enough to overcome the "offgassing" that occurs. So they are ok for lift bag purposes in N FL, but not so much in the frozen north.

In warm water (80 degrees or so) a large sized male in full decompositional glory can develop 200-250 pounds of lift. Probably too much for practical scooter recovery use as a liftbag. I suspect that also meant the mafia back in the concrete overshoes era had to use lots more concrete down south than up north.
