I had that issue... turned out a screw was loose in the battery comp - water leaked in and seriously messed up the computer. I noticed it when checking a time for my surface interval between dives... the computer said I was 15 feet below the surface with 5000PSI left in my AL80.

Had to send mine for factory service to correct.

Had a friend who had his computer do somethign along those lines.

In his case, he had tossed his gear into the pool after a couple of days diving and figured he would clean it the next day or so. When he came back to get his stuff his computer assumed he had been doing a 15 foot dive for about 48 hours.

After awhile it cleared it self up.

I hope the OP's subsequent absence from the forum is not for the same reason that his computer was unhappy !!

Regards

Richard

I had a brand new Tusa Iq700 do this random depths, into deco on the boat etc... Sent them all back and got different Brand & models all good now.

My computer is "bent" but I am not? Not sure I understand why...supposedly the entire bottom time over 4 days...any ideas?

My interpretation is that some combination of things you've done over 4 days of diving has made your computer unhappy and it's locked you out.

Information on what brand/type of computer it is and exactly what it's telling you that makes you think it's "bent" will help.

Of course if I'm right in my assessment, then it's probably self corrected by now.

Could have been any number of things; not all of which actually may have bent you:
- missed mandatory deco stop
- rapid ascent which required a level stop
- high conservatism settings
- nitrox time or depth violations
- buzzsaw dives

All of which indicate you may not know how to read your computer. That can be as fatal as not knowing how to read an altimeter in an airplane.

......removing and reinstalling the computer battery will usually fix it..... :)

Some computers like my Dive Rite Nitek Duo have a reset button, others, like my Oceanic Pro Plus 2 do not. Keep in mind that using the reset button or temporarily removing and replacing the battery may correct or solve a problem but causes you to lose all data regarding previous dives. You should attempt to take that into consideration for continuing your dive series.

I once turned on a new computer on the plane on the way to my destination to do some programming and to gain familiarity. When we landed, the computer had me at 8 feet of depth. I used the battery trick to reset the computer prior to diving.

Good diving, Craig

I have a screw loose too. At least that's what my kids tell me. So far no problems with my computer though!
