Having been buzzed by idiots on jetskis, I suppose getting hit by some boat like creature.

Marinelife doesn't scare me, in fact it is the primary reason I dive, though some encounters would probably scare some warm water into my wetsuit...it isn't something I worry about before I dive.

Perhaps I'm too new at diving to know better, but marine life doesn't bother me. Snakes maybe, but sharks, squids, whales, etc. Nah...

Probably the one thing that worries me is the bends. I really don't know much about it, but I figure that when I get a chance to dive more, and hang out with more experienced divers, that I'll start learning more about the subject.

Although I have no real fears diving, realistically the biggest danger for someone of my experience level (I consider myself moderately experienced) is overconfidence. The ocean is and will always be capable of both surprising and overpowering any human.

My wife being injured, be either getting caught and sucked down or away in a strong current, hit by a boat, or her having an accident and surfacing way to fast. During training, she was coming up from 30', and didn't keep letting the air out of her wing as she ascended, causing her to go from 20'-0 very fast. I worry about that when we dive to 60'+. I always worry about her WAY more than I do myself.

Getting sick on a dive trip......And I don't mean seasickness. Outer ear infection, food poisoning, etc. I had it all happen to me.

I'm the same way. I told her to just expect that any time there's a current, i'll be on the downstream side of it from her... if she's gonna get carried anywhere, i'm going with her. :p

I don't worry about her ascending tho, because she is more coservative and conscientious than i am about that.

My biggest fear is that my buddy, buddies and/or I are a diving fatality. :depressed:

Heart attack underwater. I have never had any heart problems, but at my age it is more likely than when I was younger, and anything that causes unconsciousness underwater is likely to be fatal. On the other hand, I have finally realized that I probably won't live forever anyway, and I don't want to miss the diving time I have left! But if I ever survive a heart attack, I guess I will (reluctantly) have to give up diving.

Agreed with the wife comment. I worry more about my spouse especially since she bounces to the surface too fast and tends to get lost in the beauty of it all.
