I was scheduled to be aboard on Jun 5th with my wife. We are out 4,500 dollars plus airfare. B of A says they cannot help us. No money to pick up with another live aboard, as we save all year to do a dive trip. We are sick!

That bites but since you have tickets to Florida, come anyway and for another $1900-2000, the two of you could dive Boynton Beach every day and stay at a Holiday Inn Express.

Six two tank trips for two at $75 each = $900
Six nights at the HEI Diver rate $69 + tax = $450
Week of car rental = $250
Meals = $300-400 (if you don't drink....)

Ouch, we are booked on the June 12 cruise and found this out today. it's not looking good

John

John, we're sold out on our Caribbean boats for June 12 but we do have space the following week in Turks & Caicos. If we can be of any help, please let us know - you can reach us at info@explorerventures.com.

Best,

- Clay

Hi Clay
Thanks for the very generous offer to all of the former Nekton people. We have done a few trips on your boats and have had a great time. Unfortunately I can't change my week off from work.

I learned a big lesson from this....I will ALWAYS pay with a credit card from now on, even when the company is offering a discount for cash.

It still is not clear to me. Are you sure that if you pay with credit card, you can get the money back in this sort of situation? (I hope that is the case). Also, I think you have to look at the size of the discount, and the reputation of the company, before ruling out using cash. After my 25 Nekton trips, I came out way ahead by paying cash balances (but I did use a credit card for my last trip with them , because I thought they might fold). The reason I ask is I recently booked an airfare with Yahoo, but they submitted the wrong date to the airline (Spirit). I noticed this immediately but Yahoo said I would have to change with the airline, and Spirit wanted a $200 change fee. I tried to dispute the charges with my credit card to no avail. I wondered if there were any credit card gurus out there.

I had the same thing happen with Expedia. United changed a flight time for one we couldn't connect to when we return from Fiji. I called them, they promised a refund for 6 of us. Weeks passed. No refund. I called Expedia, and they assured me I was getting a refund... still no refund. Finally I called American Express, who I had used to pay for the tickets, relayed the story, and within a few days, I had my refund. I've had that card since '84 and they've always backed me up.

Visa will only do disputes if the closing date for the card billing cycle is within 60 days. If the company makes you pay 90 days before the trip, then you can't get it back.

What is the address for the Nekoton? I'll fill out a complaint too.
