Now, is Atomic made by Aqualung, or Sherwood? I forget.

.

Neither to my knowledge.

Aqualung owns Apeks. They share a lot of design features. that might have been what you were thinking.

Aqualung is owned by Air Liquide. (french)
Sherwood is owned by Cramer Decker Industries. They own Sherwood, Genesis, Akona.

Cramer Decker OEM's the stuff out just like all the rest of the manufacturers do. (they all do it). I think Advanced Diving Products makes some of the Sherwood stuff. Maybe the others are made by ROMI Enterprises or some Taiwan OEM like ODS or similar).

I'm not sure who Atomic uses for OEM. never asked... :hm:

Which regulator do you feel works the best, Aqualung or Sherwood? Please give an unbiased opinion based on facts. :idk:

Laredo Scuba Diver

No offense, but this is a dumb question. I'll give you an equally dumb answer:

Neither, I just bought the best regulator in the world, for $66. Scubapro pilot!

Close 2nd goes to my RAM:

Ya gotta appreciate a man that knows his Foghorn Leghorn. :D

The OP asked about Aqualung and Sherwood. Scubaboard is notorious for providing unasked for information. Don't believe me, just go to the BC forum and ask about a jacket BC. Within 5 posts, someone will try to sell you a backplate and wing.

PS - Who changed my subtitle to "enthusiast"?

Exactly! Buy an Atomic and pair it with a Halcyon bp and wing! Excellent advice!

Seriously though. Go to your local dive store, talk to the instructor and ask him what he is diving. Then buy from him. Avoid internet "deals", support your local dive store.

I like my APEK's regs as they breath easy, but it really depends upon the type of diving you are doing.

The average diver goes through two sets of gear in first few years. First is the gear is told about and then the second set that he researches and buys after he/she knows what he/she wants.

K said it best. Do your research. Sit down and envision where you want to be diving in five years and does that gear support your dreams? Then find someone (in your sphere) who is doing that diving and ask to use their gear as a test dive or ask the dive shop to pony up your two favorite rigs and do a test dive in their gear. please test dive the gear before buying it. Did I mention test dive?

Bad news - everything we buy is subjective. Good news there is a direct correlation between cost and performance. Don't have to buy the most expensive but not the cheapest either.

Happy hunting.. and start reading on flow rates, cracking pressure and depth.

Andrew (notice no regulators were recommended or harmed.)

This is how we learn, by asking questions. It is great to hear the professional opinions and advise from other experienced divers, on any dive related question. Some divers take things too personal. :idk: :crafty: I did not mean to insult anyones intelligence.

...ya didn't fulfill your continuing education requirements here on Scubaboard, so they yanked yer 'guru' status....

Just curious, why did you ask in the first place? Appears you already have your mind made up.

Dive Equipment
I only use Aqualung dive gear.
