Morehead/Beaufort dive lodges

I know that both Olympus and Discovery diving have "dive lodges" for divers but I have yet to see any photos of them. I am trying to put together info for a trip in the next year and would like to include detailed info about the lodges for those single divers who may want to join us.
Also, I was hoping to get info on rental condos, cheap, that would provide similar accomodations for 5-6 days (bedrooms, kitchen, etc.)

Here is a link to Olympus's lodge page (with photos). My daughter lives close by, so I have not stayed at the lodge. Other divers on the boat who stay at the lodge give good reports.

yes, I have seen that one photo on Olympus website, I was looking for more photos plus photos of Discovery's two dive lodges.

Herman - I would consider that if we all didn't have huge camera rigs and need a camera table. I think a 6-pack would be very uncomfortable with 6 divers and 6 large cameras onboard. Being a girl, I also appreciate an onboard head. (My husband refuses to pee in his website, too)

Olympus has a pretty nice bunkhouse. It's divided up into rooms with 4 to 8 bunks per room (bunks are stacked two high) with a male restroom and female restroom. They also have a common sitting area with TV and DVD player. There's also a small kitchen area. They rent it out by the bunk ($25 each/night). I don't have any pictures but it is kept clean and maintained.

Discovery's bunkhouses are actually older houses that have been filled with bunk beds. I've only stayed in one of them (and that was 5 years ago) but it had your regular house-type bathrooms. IIRC, Discovery only rents out the entire bunkhouse rather than individual bunks. I was with a dive shop at the time and we had a good time there...grilled out in the front yard and lounged out on the back deck.

Both bunkhouses are located a short walk from their respective shops.

As mentioned earlier, Tortuga Charters also has a bunkhouse. It's right down the street from the boat. His bunkhouse has double beds plus individual bunk beds. Nice set up and more privacy than other bunkhouses I've stayed in. Plus, when we stayed there, we spent the evening with Capt James and his lovely wife.:cool2: His rate is $25 per person per night.

There are plenty of rentals in the area although I imagine most of them would be on the island (for the beachgoers). I've no idea what a condo rental would run down there.

thanks packman! Great info. I completely forgot to ask to see the bunkhouses while we were there a week ago, now I am kicking myself.

For what it's worth I just stayed in Discovery Diving's bunkhouses. There are two, West and East, right next to each other essentially and both within 200m of the dive shop I'd say. I stayed in the West Lodge basement. Parking is tight (5-6 cars) but there is an outdoor charcoal grill and line for gear/wetsuits. Inside the basement were 5 bunks, 2 bathrooms (1 with shower), full size fridge/freezer, small TV, decent AC and washer/dryer (plus heater we didn't need). Blankets and pillows provided (bring sheets/linens). It was pretty clean, good sleeping and in decent shape. As previously stated the lodges are older houses converted by adding bunkbeds.

West's upstairs had a small living room and full kitchen with small room with 3-4 bunks and a large room with about 6 bunks. Also full bathroom on first floor. I believe 2 additional beds in the upstairs space as well. I never went to the East lodge. Conditions were good and honestly better than I expected them to be.
