I actually agree on all counts.
I noticed with my previous Ike G9 housing that my right hand often was holding the housing not the right handle.
The PT-EP01 is even more ergonomic in this respect.

I haven't had a chance to dive with this yet, but there are 2 things about the 10-bar housing I wish the Oly had.
The ability to pop up the flash underwater and the ability to manually focus.

BTW. That ZEN dome port is a tight fit compared to the standard port.
I don't think changing ports, to use my macro wet lenses, is something I want to do on a small boat.

I don't feel a need to have a "pop-up" capability on the PEN... (just me).

Manual focus would be a niceity

Hmmm... I don't kow if I agree on the port change - but I'd really have to see in action what I really think. I really much rather have an option to shoot macro using the 42mm side of the 14-42mm lens with a macro adaptor instead (which is very feasible as I still have the original port).

I am a complete newbie, so just wanted to as is there any dedicated port on the 10bar e-pl1 housing to connect the flash (optical or nikonos type) or I have to attach the optical cable of my SS YS110 flash somehow to the flash window to the housing...
I just ordered the housing it is not yet here, just wondering.

Only one more question, I am struggling to find somebody in europe who sells zoom and focusing gear set from 10Bar for 9-18 Zuiko lens. Is it possible to order right from the factory?

Just thinking, 10bar semi dome port and 14-42 zuiko has limited macro capabilities, i assume. So is it possible to attach a macro screw on lens to the 14-42 and then enclose it in the housing. I mean not using wet lenses but use an ordinary dry macro 58mm screw on lens on the 14-42. Is it possible? as it seems there is a lot of space behind the dome.

Cheers

Close focus distance is 9 inches, .025M. The dome may have a little room for a close-up lens. Vignetting may be a problem at 14 mm. I got a close up set 40.5mm (+1,2,4) and a 40.5 to 52mm step up ring for my better Nikon diopters. I don't have a 10bar housing so I can't verify they will fit.

Just thinking about flash X-sync speeds.
So the E-PL1 has a limited sync speed of 1/160, is there any way to exceed this with UW flashes and fiber cable?
On land I popped my nikon sb600 flash on the oly and had pics without black bands using 1/400 sync speeds. Just wondering if the in house flash adapter is connected to the camera, and the flash is popped up, would it allow speeds which are exceeding 1/160, or do I need to have a TTL cable to hook up my SS YS110, and using higher sync speeds?

If you use the Olympus U/W UFL-2 strobes (basically their normal flash in an U/W housing) you can use their proprietary communication through the FO cable to get higher than 1/160 for x-sync. I don't think you can do it any other way. Basically, you need either connection to the hot-shoe (maybe Ike will do this eventually???) or a FO fired strobe that understand their "wireless remote mode". I am really not sure what the 10Bar housing does with the "hot shoe cable" they have.

Actually the hot shoe cable connects to a nikonos 5 pin connector on the top of the housing.
Thanks for the reply.

Does anyone have the 10Bar housing yet that can report in on their experience with it. Would they do it again over the Oly / Zen setup? Drawbacks, etc?

I'm trying to decide between the two right now...

Help please. I have the E-pl1 now and love it. Can I get my Nikonos SB-105 to work with the OLy E-pl1 through the 5 pin cable? Will it fry the electronics in the Strobe or the camera? Will I have any other functionality besided manual flash and manual exposure control? Is a Heinrick Wiecamp (sp?) module available for this housing that would allow me to get TTL control of the SB 105 with this housing?

Thanks in advance, I know that is a lot of questions.
