Hello everyone. I am Gary A. Cresswell, President of Critical Aspect Inc. I make an innovative stainless steel backplate with harness...The Pterodactyl Backplate/Harness System. This product is patented and also endorsed by John Chatterton. I will be exhibiting at the upcoming DEMA show at booth #3003. What sets my backplate apart from all the others is the very simple but unique harness rollers. These rollers make donning and doffing the harness quick and easy. My harness is entirely field-adjustable and will automatically adjust to anything the diver is wearing. No more struggling to get into your harness. And no more last-minute harness adjustments to compensate for differences in the bulkyness of one's exposure suit. The Pterodactyl really takes away as much of the aggravation of gearing-up as possible. The Pterodactyl comes with a number of other amenities...such as six harness "D" rings, a one-piece harness, the new Mega Buckle, a two-inch crotch strap, special "D" rings welded onto the lower plate corners for gear attachment, made from #316 Marine Grade stainless and a Limited Lifetime Warranty. This is the Ultimate Tech Plate!

Looks awesome, Cresswell I have modified backplates, and older backinflates, I have done numerous ways of the so called monkey diving thats been around several years now, Pony diving with scooters is the way to go in 50' ta 60' or less.

I think you have some marvelous engineering Ideas for the backplate, keep it up on the new way of freedom diving ways I have always enjoyed.

And always once you are use to it the tricks will make it even easier to use.

Happy Diving

Some advice. I cannot really see your rig from the imagery you present on your site. All the fancy back lighting effects on the imagery just reduces the presentation. From those images it looks to me like just another rig. The harness rollers you speak off are not presented in a way that I can see them and say"Ahhh yeah I see ... that makes sense. I need to buy that".

I am right now talking with Tobin over at DSS about ordering his bpw . Had the imagery of what you are offering shown me what is so different I might go your way, but as a newer product with no history like Tobin has here at SB I'm a little shy of spending money on an unseen benefit. I hope that all makes sense ... I'm only trying to help and wish you nothing but good luck on the new product line.

I can see how it works. I accomplished something similar using tri-glides as stops on the back of the BP. Neither will work with weight pouches between the plate and D-rings.

Sorry about the quality of imagery on my web site...upgrades to this site are coming. If your local dive shop does not carry this product, then convince them to borrow one for evaluation and you can stop-in to see it. It's not in many shops yet. You can also purchase one and return it for a full (and quick) refund if not satisfied. Contact me at info@criticalaspect.com. Weight pouches can be added to the harness above the rollers (so as not to interfer with the roller operation).

Hey, maybe I'll try that. Thanks.

I see all they posts for this BP are at least a couple of years old. Are you still manufacturing these? How do the compare with the Halcyon cinch stsyem?

Hello Kydaka...Yes, The Pterodactyl Backplate/Harness System is still available. With the current bad economy, Critical Aspect Inc. has gone into "sleep mode" but will re-emerge in the near future with renewed advertising. I am not familiar with the Halcyon cinch system but I will be looking-into this. Feel free to contact me with any further questons. Gary A. Cresswell, President.

Thanks for the response Gary, glad to see your still in biz. I've sent some info requests via your web page so be on the lookout. I think this is something me and my tech diver buddies may find interesting.

Yes, The Pterodactyl Backplate/Harness System is "still around". The recession has put us into the "sleep mode" but still open for business. I am not familiar with the Halcyon Cynch. If they have something similar, then obviously they are aware of the need to improve-upon the somewhat inadequate traditional harness.
