We are having a hard time. Things are better but there is obviously some closure needed. The efforts of all the people searching on both private teams has helped to get us through. Thank you all so much for everything you are doing. You are warm caring wonderful people. We will never forget what you have done for us.

I will make sure to post any memorial plans once we have some. There will also be a huge party in honor of Tim. For those of you who didn't know he was known as D.J. Tim B. and was a top club D.J. in Phoenix a few years back. Scuba diving was one of his new passions since he stopped D.J.ing and as was reported he was planning on going to Belize over thanksgiving to dive the Great Blue Hole.

Is there any word yet? Are the deep divers still looking? I wish I could dive that deep and help look.

Same here...not that I want to be a hero or risk my own skin, but the Borger family deserves to lay Tim to rest properly.

Dan's group has been out there but I haven't gotteout in the last two weeks due to work. Hoping to get out there a couple of times next week. Helium is pricey when you are open circuit!

 How pricey?

Maybe some of us who can't help with the looking could help with the financing . . .

Just a thought.

I don't know about Arizona, but in Florida, the right mix for a dive to those depths would run in the $80-100 range, depending on cylinder size.

If I don't have time to fill myself, back gas can run well over $300 for a couple of sets of doubles and then you have another 50-100 in oxygen for deco gas.

This is where the Closed circuit guys really benefit (that and way less deco time!) their gas cost is WAY less.

Have I mentioned that I miss my rebreather?

The family has contributed to the searches and was very generous. My limiting factor has been work and travel for work.

Wow! You guys are getting ripped off, for helium and O2! Filling a 40 with O2 is only about $10 here. Another 40 of 50% and you're still under $20. That's plenty of O2 for a 30 minute dive in the 200' range.

I don't dive rebreathers yet (that happens in '11), but my understanding is that decompression isn't affected much by diving a rebreather. While you may save a few minutes, it's not a substantial difference.

Yeah tell me about it. There are only a couple of shops that have boosters around here.

As far as a rebreather and deco, if you're diving 250fsw open circuit on - say 10/50 and deco on 32 and 80 (for arguments sake) your PPO2 drops into the .5 - .8 range throughout parts of the ascent. With a rebreather it is like having the perfect deco mix for every depth since you can set your PPO2 at a specific value (say 1.4). The higher the PPO2, the quicker you deco. This can cut your deco almost in half in some cases.

On the 30 min BT dives that Dan and the guys were doing, this would be a big savings. We end up doing 20min BTs at 250 due to gas volume limitations and pure boredome factor at the last stop (28min at 10ft for the gasses mentioned before!).

 I get an O2 fill for about $10-12, depending on the size of the tank.
