Lemon Sharks of Jupiter are in the house!

About time. We encountered a group of 25 to 30 Lemon Sharks hanging out near the deep ledge off Jupiter. As you know, Lemon Sharks aggregate in Jupiter this time of year. For them to hang together, they need current. This allows them to sit still on the bottom and let the water pass over their gills. Unfortunately, there is usually better current in 100 ft off Jupiter, When the conditions are right, they will be on the Jupiter Wreck Trek 85 to 90 fsw and the MG111 at 60 fsw. (561) 248 8332 to check sightings and conditions before you come to see them. THEY ARE NOT ALWAYS THERE! They are always somewhere though this time of year. We dive everyday and this time of year, we try to see the Lemons every trip.

My experience has been that they are usually still around through February, which is good because I'm grounded until then due to nose surgery (septoplasty).

Based on my limited experience....if 10-20 divers jump in the water at the same time...they are usually around long enough for the first few divers to see them.

(I know this isn't what you were asking, but next time I do a lemon shark dive I will go on a weekday when the boat isn't full or get to the boat early so I can set up in the back to catch the glimpse of them before they scatter.)

I am traveling to Jupiter for the MLK weekend. A group of friends are doing the EPCOT Dive Quest and hitting Jupiter Dive Center for a 2 tank on Sunday- looking forward to getting into the water and seeing some lemon's.

that isn't being hit by many divers. I saw the lemon sharks there two weeks in a row, about 20 of them. Of course there are no guarantees because they can go wherever they want. But it's a great site and you are likely to see a few bull sharks and possibly a hammerhead.

They don't pay attention to divers. They cruise in their bizarre formation, circle around, and come back again. They are not aggressive unless there are speared fish. On Randy's boat, that's a likely scenario. It certainly adds to the excitement.
