For a ton of reasons, not accounting for other people. Amusing myself by 'skydiving' off ledges to get to depth. To be able to practice skills in my own time and dive with no mask. To find a handy ledge at night to sit on in the dark, switch my light off and just exist. To have an extended period of silence driving there, kitting up, diving and de-kitting at my own pace and driving home. To find people in the car park when you surface having a sneaky bit of 'secluded' car sex, then turning my light on them and watching them drive off at speed :rofl3:

Most importantly being able to dive exactly how I want, when I want for as long as I want.

LMAO.. You Limeys really are a perverted bunch!

Reminds me of a trip to Bonaire years ago. I went for a little dive every night before bed, on the house reef. As I came back into shore, the lights from the hotel were pretty bright, so I just shut my light off as I swam up to the beach.

One night, as I was in full stealth mode, I came across the legs of a couple that was... well, they were also "diving"... in a matter if speaking. And I was far closer than good manners would dictate. It's about the only time I wished I was on a rebreather... Anyway, I retreated and they were never the wiser.

Incidentally, that was the same place that the dive shop manager disapproved of my solo night diving and requested that I stop or find a buddy. So every other night after that, I took out two tanks, and left one with a slow bleed going while I dove, so I could leave two empty tanks for him to find in the morning. :D

Ahh, thank goodness you added house reef there....

A golden opportunity to make a joke about snorkels and blast clearing missed....sigh

Ha ha haaa....I hope it was 36 too the miserable beggar :mooner:

Whoops that went a bit wrong, what is it with Brits and mooning anyways??

Who would want to paw in the mud looking for junk with me.I gave up asking .Plus ther are very few divers around me.

I can take photos of the same subject for 20 minutes trying to get a shot 'just right' and not have my buddy threaten me with their dive knife :p

If I want to go somewhere I just do. I don't have to try and get my buddies attention and tell them to go in that direction (or if they've moved on a bit and I have to catch up to them).

It's much more peaceful. I don't have to worry about my buddy.

It's nice to sometimes just be you and nature :)
