So without intention of starting a debate about RAS I w oils like to get some opinions. I am in the market for a bottle to sling, and use as a RAS during wreck diving in lake Huron. Also I will be using it as a stage bottle in the future. So the question is, should I purchase a al 30 or a al 40. Also planning on trying out a hog reg as well so what do you guys think?:)

Had a 30, made it my deco bottle, and bought a 40 which is now my 'pony'. I dive a 100, and the 40cf is > 1/3 of my 100cf.

I have 3 HOGs . . . they're great!

I have used HOG regs and think they are great stuff!

I use AL40's for either RAS or deco bottles, they have great buoyancy characteristics and are long, which i find works well for hose stowage against the bottle, and because I am a tall guy they fit well against me when i dive with one slung on my harness.

If the physical size is not that big a deal for you, why not go for the larger? It will serve you better in your future endeavors as a stage or deco bottle.

40. It's not that much bigger and a lot more useful.
