Spring 2011 is coming soon, which mean Icon HD Air Integration is going to be available !
I looked around on Internet and dive shows for demos, videos or still images of how the AI looks like in the Icon HD interface. I have not been able to find any though. Have anyone found such information available anywhere ?

Also, I have not heard any news or promotions from Mares regaring the unit upgrade or details about the exchange process. Thanks Chris_66 for info from Boot :)

Best regards,
Jakob

Jakob,

The only thing that i have found is a still shot of what the interface will look like with the ai. if you got to mares' website and download their 2011 catalog, one of the pages shows what the interface will look like.

Tardmaster.

First of all hello... new here...

Second, I just spoke to a guy called Ed Bulmer at Mares UK (very helpful chap), about the upcoming Icon HD AIR release and he has told me everything I needed to know. (Obviously this is regarding UK release so international users check with their supplier).

Air integrated model will be released once final round of testing is complete... final checks are being made to ensure that transmitter works in various different environments; caverns / caves, inside wrecks and general overhead environments. Also further testing is required to ensure there is no interference from other brands of AI computers.

So, all you need to know:

Date - September 2011
Cost - £340.00
Validity - 6 months from release of AI model. Age of original unit not relevant and no proof of purchase required. Just take your old model into your local Mares dealer and they will trade for you.

Also, dive log info will not be transferred across so ensure that any logged dives on the old unit are downloaded onto your PC / Mac before making the change.

I'm just a messenger here, I'm typing this up from notes taken during my telephone conversation with Ed just a moment ago, if the release date or cost or anything I have passed on frustrates you then please don't vent at me!!! I'm feeling it too:depressed:

I hope you wrong about relase date, but if its true im done with Mares(and 90% of my equipment is Mares). We heard from Zak (US rep for Mares on this forum) and I spoke with other guy from Mares at "beneath the sea" show and they were saing May or June.

There are no less than three separate threads on this Board that contain information about the availability of the AI upgrade. It would appear that you may be seeing either a summer or fall release. [My local dive shop stated thier belief that it will be out "later this summer."]

For those that love the Mares product line, I just posted my Icon for sale here in the "classifieds."

Good luck.

:acclaim::acclaim:Here we go again!!.............I just don't get it.......If Mares hires, lets say 5 divers, making 2 or 3 dives per day, how long will it take to test one of their products. I would like to think that in less than a month, those 5 divers would be able to cover just about every type of diving that there is.................Why in the world is it taking them this long? Unless they are just making everything up, trying to sell more Icon Hd's and hoping that one day they will be able to produce AI............

I just don't understand you people. The AI is just a convenience! It's not meant to be the ONLY source of air information. You need to have a stanadard manometer with you anyway? You're still gonna have it even when the AI is released.

Is anyone honestly even considering using ONLY the AI for monitoring air?!

Jeez...

I will try to explain this to you. I bought Icon Hd in March 2010. I decided to buy this comp without AI because release date was Spring 2010 so i thought i could wait two months. If I would knew that it won't have AI at the time it was promised I would never buy it. Another thing is that Mares is using illegal sale technics called false advertising this is link to definition of it if you are interested False advertising - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. What makes me even more upset that after promises that AI finally would be in Spring2011 I'm finding out that this could be end of Summer or maybe again would be Spring but 2012 or 2013( we never know). There is an old saying " Foll me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me" so like i wrote before if its true im done with Mares.
On the other hand If I want to use manometer as my main gauage i wouldn't bother buying comp with AI, but I want to use manometer as a a backup only and if I want to confirm comp readings..I hope this would help you understand why so many of us are upset with Mares.
I just hope that this info about releasing date being moved to September 2011 is false and Zak would clarify that.
