Any books you just cant live with out as a diver? Info books or dive stories?

Agree completely on Deco for Divers. Jill Heinerth's cave and sidemount books are good too.

As a dive guide, Shadow Divers by Robert Kurson. I read the entire book in 2 days. I could not put it down.Got it from 'Bob' in Jonesville Roatan & donated it to 'the world of dive shop libraries' somewhere....

Some of the "best books" depend on where you live and/or plan on diving. For example, here in the Pacific Northwest, there are many books which are specifically aimed at local diving and IF you are going to dive here, they are "must have" books -- but if you aren't going to dive here, forgetaboutem. In addition, there are many books relating to local critters -- again, get the books that describe where YOU are going to be diving.

+1 for the PADI Encyclopedia -- it can be somewhat tedious, but there is a LOT of good information in it on a lot of different topics.

Deco for Divers is a must for anyone who is actually interested in diving.

I also second the recommendation for the PADI Encyclopedia. Although not highly technical, and despite the fact that I disagree with some of the specifics, it's still a very broad collection of information on things which pertain to diving.

For those with a more aggressive curiosity, Deco for Divers is a must, and I would add to that Steve Lewis (Doppler's) Six Skills and other Discussions which is an extremely well-written and thought-provoking book.
