Phil,

Do you have any info on whether the port is removable on the e-pl3 housing? Their announcement says the housing is compatible with the ptwc-01 wide angle wet lens, which seems to indicate no removable port. Also, how is the port removable when it must have some wiring for the led lights? While the camera looks very nice, no removable port would be a serious deal-breaker for me to upgrade.

From the view in this link it looks as if the dome port mounts the same as on the past housings that can take the ZEN domes and it would be in Olympus best interest to be able to interchange ports so as not to limit the system. However it appears that the on/off button is mounted on the body of the main housing below the shutter lever which would result in some type of connection between the two. I hope it is a plug or contacts that don't interfear with a port change.

Please please please, olympus, make an affordable housing for the ep3!!

Everybody, go to the OLYMPUS | Global Homepage

and pick your region, and find the contact us, and ask them for an underwater housing for the ep3, and not just the epl series.

Here is the link for USA:

I told them how they were so great to keep the underwater housings going, but serious photogs don't want to use a menu wheel for aperture and shutter adjustment. If we have to pay $2000 for a 3rd party housing, then we are better off buying a canon 600D and ikelite housing.

Come on everyone. Let's get them to upgrade their strategy!

Full time AF. I wonder if you can turn it off?
Edit:Live view that is "The full-time AF function keeps the Live View image focused even when the release button is not pressed. As the camera always remains focused on whatever subject it is pointed at, S-AF shooting, which is initiated by a half-press of the shutter release button, can be engaged more quickly".
OLED display. Oh, and its a touch screen. Cameras finally caught up to Smart phones. Tip of the iceberg.
MMMmmmm.....

I wonder if e=p3 can be actually fitten inside the e-pl2 housing. The only major difference seem to be the power button.

Very excited about these.
$$$? I hope it is as affordable as the other Oly housings.
67mm threads on the front? I wonder if my Inon Type 1, WA/dome set up might work on this?
I guess this is why Ikelite decided not to make the EVIL housings. Pretty hard to compete with stuff like this...

On the link mentioned above Olympus - PEN Underwater Cases they say "For fans of wide-angle photography, there is also a wide conversion lens available, which attaches to the front of the lens port". This is intriguing. It implies that you now have a camera system where you can use wet lenses for macro and wide as well. Lots of flexibility U/W and still have the ability to change camera lenses. Let's hope the port is replaceable like it is today.

This seems like a lot of flexibility that I haven't seen matched. I guess the focus light is pretty cool too. I hope they have better batteries though!

I guess there will be no way to use the port with the epl1/"old housing"?
