What are YOUR hose lengths and why?

Just pulled the trigger on my Hollis sidemount rig, however, I'm looking at this:
2 x 6" SPG hoses
1 5' right bottle MiFlex reg hose
1 30" left bottle MiFlex reg hose, necklaced
1 16" left MiFlex inflator hose

New hoses have arrived and so a slightly tweaked setup for this weekend"

7' miflex hose on left tank - bungeed to tank and goes behind my neck.
18" miflex hose on right tank, necklaced with a 90 deg adaptor
9" inflator hose from left tank
15" drysuit inflator from right tank

Be happy to... waiting on the rig, and will be a couple of weeks before the opportunity to dive it presents, however, I will certainly get back to you.
My post indicates what my expectations are based on what I know of the Hollis to date (and how I'm initially provisioning), but I expect there will be a few tweaks.

Well there are several posts about the Hollis and the things folks have done to them in the SM forum. I dont think its to say "how much" tweaking the rig "needs" rather then just look at the available options. Everybody changed there rig to suit them and there is no one design for all. Mine is heavily modified and will not work for everybody.

If your shop and local divers are in to SM then it is a great rig to have on hand.

So, I'm reading your posts on this thread and can't help but wonder what all the talk about long hoses and deployment are about.
The long hose was utilized to solve the specific issue of traveling through areas too small for buddies to share gas from a single source.
For BM this was the perfect cure for this situation. SM has the advantage of being able to pass the whole thing off to your buddy.
So your buddy is OOA, you allow him/her either reg for the oh sheet moment. Once that is over with, unclip a bottle and pass it to them.
If they are SM you just need to swap bottles. There is no dire need what so ever for a long hose while diving SM.
This is one of the great advantages if diving SM independent doubles. So, if someone chooses to dive 2 short or long hoses, as long as everyone on thier team is aware of it, there should not be a safety issue. If anything, passing the bottle off is likely to be safer that being tethered by a single gas source.

Come on man you know it so you can have a little fun!!! You deploy the long hose but keep your tank then periodically yank the reg out of his mouth and watch him chase it... Kinda like a cat and a string... Ok no not really

This is actually unpractical,although this comes up in discussion a lot. Even in a nonemergency situation this can be problematic since you will have people out of trim,out of air diver trying to hold onto a tank etc. It can be done,but needs a lot of practice with an individual you dive with a lot,and a last resort scenario. For most people sidemounting is backmount with tanks on the side,and handling OOA scenarios this way is probably the safest for the team FWIW.
