I leave mine connected to the first stage. I have a case for my regulator that protects it pretty well. I agree that extra padding is a good idea if traveling. I usually wrap the second stage in bubble wrap and will do the same for the transmitter module. The console is already in its own protective sleeve.

When traveling, why not just use clothes as the padding--towel, underwear or socks should work fine. Also someone pointed out that the tank module should be kept separated from the wrist unit to keep the module in a sleep mode. His module activated and ran down the battery.

I was wondering about travelling with it myself, I have my regs in a reg bag with bubble wrap around the transmitter, inside my carry on and I carry the icon computer in its case in the same carry on, I'm guessing there is no way to prevent them communicating when they are not in use and close together short of removing the transmitter battery.
That being said a note in the manual says
"The Mares tank module has a range of approximately 1.5m/5ft.- To maximize the life of the battery, the tank module turns itself off when there is no pressure change for more than 1 minute. It also turns itself off when the pressure is 10bar/145psi or less.- If a tank module battery is weak, Icon HD alerts you with a screen message
referencing the channel designation assigned to the tank module in question. - Do not store the tank module near a
source of strong magnetic fields, such as a TV or a microwave oven. These could cause the tank module to stay in high power mode and thus consume the battery very quickly."
What to believe, but I think I'm going on my next trip with a spare battery in case!

Maybe unpairing before travel is the answer, any thoughts?

I really don't think it's an issue, and unpairing seems to be unnecessary. I've had mine well within 5 feet of each other for several days, with no noticeable adverse effects. With that being said, I agree that it's a good idea to carry a spare battery -- CR123A's are pretty common. I pick up a pair at a Walgreens.

I don't know this for sure but I think he's referring to keeping it close within a few centimeters. It don't think it gets activated when kept farther away. The tank module gets activated even when not attached to a tank when placed very close to the wrist unit, after all that's how we pair it.

By the way the lithium CR123A batteries are known for their long shelf life, so it's not a bad idea to keep an extra one around.

Just got back from 12 dives in Hawaii and the Icon Hd is GREAT! One thing I did notice after diving multiple days and dives my no fly time never went more than 12 hrs? I did use Nitrox and never went any deeper than 75'. Although my wife uses a Mares puck and she dived the same profile as me and hers was at 24 hrs all week??? Any ideas?

The current DAN recommendation is 18 hrs after multiple days' non deco diving.

Perhaps you could send your report to Mares through their email support. Though when I sent them an email I never heard from them again.

Can I ask you about your dive profiles on the last day of diving?

I waited 48 hrs before I got on a plane we didn't dive the last 2 days. The last day I dove we did a 65' dive for 40 min then a 35' dive for 55. I was just concerned with the firmware and was wondering if anyone else was experiencing this problem?

What about the no deco time limits. Were they roughly the same as your wife's computer? Do you have the firmware 3.04?

I did not have the updated firmware. We were never close to deco so I dont know how my wife computer read.
