Has anyone heard any more about the condition of the diver that was in critical condition? My prayers are with him for a speedy recovery.
This is such a tragedy especially knowing that we were on that boat for a week diving with them.

Haven't heard anything. I suppose one could phone the hospital and inquire?

Do you remember where the life vests were stored on the boat when you were on it?

I am often concerned about how I might try to escape a boat, ferry, bus, plane, etc. should the need arise. I'm still wondering how those two Discover divers got caught, but a capsizing boat is certainly a dangerous situation.

Regardless of all the speculation, the fact remains - one diver is dead, another in critical condition and 6 more will carry this tragedy with them for life. A family will mourn the loss of a wife and a mother this holiday and another will be left praying and hoping for the best outcome.

I can't see how of anything matters and nothing will really be answered until the CG makes their final determination. We just all hope and pray that we're never in the same situation.

Haven't heard anything. I suppose one could phone the hospital and inquire?

some reports said he was in CRITICAL CONDITION.

The Orlando paper is reporting [-]today[/-] yesterday that he's in SERIOUS CONDITION. (which I think is an upgrade from Critical)


You can't be sure with electronic media reporting. Most of the stories out there are just regurgitated versions of what some other media outlet posted. So the story time stamps don't really mean anything as half the news now days isn't actually verified or updated properly.

If the two Discover Scuba people were at the front, and the boat began to sink, is it possible they held on to the front so they were "trapped" in the forward area as the boat went bow up?

I am guessing the others, being certified divers, would have jumped away as they were taught and practiced to do?

were both injured Discover divers? or just one?

I am guessing the others, being certified divers, would have jumped away as they were taught and practiced to do?

OW classes don't typically teach that. not as part of a curriculum


now days it's slap them through the class room, dunk em in the pool, get their 4 dives in and get their ass out the door.



just because they are certified divers doesn't mean they know squat about boat safety

They may have been going after life jackets. I know I would be going for a life jacket if the boat was sinking. Abandon ship procedures usually have you putting on your life jacket as the first step.
