I still have a couple U2 and also T6 LEDs. The deal is that both of these are 10w and the really drop the burn time 2.5 hrs in a SL4 and 3.5 in a SL6. But long enough for a couple night dives and longer then those china T6 lights on full power. Both of these have a nice big spot and lots of spill. Thanks

Sent Replay I will be in Cozumel until 5/13/12 Thanks

Bought 2 of the LED's for my old Scouts. Excellent upgrade.

Jim, I have a drop in from you for my SL6. I have used it now on a couple of dives off NJ, in Dutch Springs and down in Aruba. It performs first rate! Really happy with it thanks.

How do these compare to the R2 in terms of spot size and overall brightness? I need a fairly tight spot. Any new LEDs on the horizon?

The R2 has the tights spot. The U2 has a very big spot.

I haven't followed this thread. Last time I posted was a little over a year ago, right after I bought some SL4's w/R5's. We used them for the first time on a night dive in Cozumel about 6 weeks ago. They were fantastic. Our lights were the best of all of them, including some that our fellow divers had to haul in with a hand truck.

Hey JJ,
Are the Cree R5s for the Halcyon Scouts considered an "overdriven" bulb?
All the best,
Keith

These are not over driven, This module works with 4.2v to 18v.and the mini works with .8 to 4.5v.

Usually when someone asks about a light being overdriven it's regarding the current on the emitter. It would be interesting to see what you measure that at, or what the driver says. Then burn time estimates can be made. Cree recommends these max drive currents...

XM-L - 3A (amps)
XP-G - 1.5A

re. Halcyon Scouts being able to run at "4.2V - 18V" with your module. I don't know if ppl here realize that with their Scouts (not mini Scout) they can run 26650 Li-ion batteries. 3 cells in series would be 12.6V, so within the driver's limits. That should give a very extended burn time. And they are rechargeable.

here are some sellers: Intl (KingKong), CN, 4sevens

I'm not trying to educate you JJ, since you probably know all this stuff, but this info may help the others who received your product.
