The focus light can be ordered through the Laluz website for $199 which includes free S+H so IMHO you don't need to rush and get that right away... especially since you're just starting out. But, that's just my opinion. :)

True. But you don't get the extra battery and red filter, so you get $35 worth of stuff free. I'd really like to have it because I want to shoot video. Do you recommend an alternative? All the other video lights I checked into were pretty far out of my price range for now.

I wonder if I should get a diffuser for it, too... Oh now, there goes the price creep again! :D

Sorry... I don't shoot videos so can't help you with that.

Doesn't the PT-EP03 have two screw holes in the bottom? If so you want to use both not one because your housing will move and twist which is one thing I hate about my XZ-1.

I think you want this one and get two of these also. But only if I am correct and there are two screw holes in the bottom of the housing. I'm pretty sure that is the case if I remember correctly when looking at my buddies rig.

I don't know. Here's the one I plan on ordering:
S-Tray with Adapters - Trays & Handles - Trays, Arms, Handles & Clamps - Optical Ocean Sales Underwater Photo - 800-359-1295!

That's the one Optical Ocean sells with the PT-EP03, and it's the one Jack recommended.

Just got my PT-EP03. There are three holes in the bottom, in a straight line. Here's a pic:

The plate is right on the nose at 3" across and the holes are spaced about 7/8" from center to center.

Do you think that S-Tray is going to be less than great? It was the one Jack recommended.

I just used the xz-1 in the oly housing for the first time and just tightened the screw down. I didn't get much movement with the housing on the tray that way.

I don't think Jack would have recommended something that he wasn't sure about as he really isn't trying to make the hard sale. He knows what he is talking about and I would trust him to give you the best advice even taking into consideration the $$ factor.

I have a YS-01 strobe for sale since Im upgrading. Check it out in the SB classifieds and let me know if you are interested.

My single bolt/screw tray moved too much for my taste (even when cinched down pretty well...then I worried I was gonna break the mounting bolt/screw since I had done that before) so I went with a double bolt/screw Inon M1 tray and glad I did.
