it was the darkest dive in pt Lobos. anything to 180ft is dark. @85 ft we had 10ft at best vis. bloom n full swing.

Did one dive today at Breakwater, introducing 3 divers new to the area. I was down for 37 mins with a max of 36 along the wall and my computer reported the water temperature at 54 °F. Not sure if it really was that warm the whole dive, but I didn't get too cold in my 7 mm one-piece. I'd say visibility was up to 15 ft. farther out along the wall. Finished off the day with sticky toffee pudding at Crown & Anchor.

It's probably been posted elsewhere, but the brown sea nettles are back in town :)

I did one dive at the breakwater on 7/22 (Sunday).

We covered a big portion of the wall (went 400+ ft past the cinder block) and also the entire run to the barge. I didn't think we say anything past 10ft of vis the entire dive.

The run to the barge was thick with sea nettles. Both of my buddies and I got stung several times before we made it to the barge.

Same today as week ago :( about 10ft a most @ point lobos.

Just got home from two dives at Lobos. First dive 10-15', second maybe 10-20'. It was overcast so pretty dark under the kelp. The temp was 52-ish on the surface but my computer reported 48 at the end of each dive (still learning to use this computer). There was a swell coming into the cove so it was a bit surgey (sp?).

We dropped too soon the first dive and spent a lot of time in the 30 foot range before reaching some interesting topography. Surface swam a bit longer on the second and reached the parallel channels along the rocks between Whalers and Blue Fish.

I dove two dives at Point Lobos on Monday, 7/30.
Temp was a surprising low of 54.
Decended in the sand channel and went 30 degrees on the first dive, small surge and vis at 15 - 30. On decent, a harbor seal was laying in the sand watching me come down. Very cool.
Second dive was to the left at a 320 degree heading. The vis was about 15 - 25 and there was a LOT more surge.
Saw a couple of good sized jelly fish, about 1.5' diameter.
On the swim back, well into whalers another seal came out to greet us and swim around us for a while.
All in all, a fantastic day!

I doved breakwater on 7/29. Viz was 10ft at best, average about 5ft. Lots of squit eggs on the sandy area near the kelp forrest. Water temperature was 57F, which I think is the highest I have dove in Monterey. I sweat in my drysuit.

Temp was a surprising low of 54.

Really!!!! 54F doesn't seem too low at all. Most of my dive is 50F-52F. A monthes or two ago, I have had 44F. But last Sunday was 57F.

That was what I meant. The last time I dove Point Lobos it was 50. So that was what I was expecting. So the low being 54 was surprising.
