Thank you emerispsni, I am glad you and your wife had a wonderful time here in Bermuda :D. I am glad my information was helpful to you.
The Keep had been renovating its grounds year after year so when you come again there will be probably something new to see inside the Museum. Dockyard also has some new plans in the works so who knows what will happen in the years to come! (I can't wait I live 5 minutes away).

In regards to the Public trans; The Buses do run every 15 minutes (Well they say they do) but there is a catch... there are both #7 and #8 that run to barnes Corner.. these run from Dockyard and from Hamilton and can be frustrating if thats the bus coming your way. These run every so often but not as often as the Dockyard - Hamilton routes. If you are looking for a dive on a Sunday buses do not start till later in the morning so a Taxi may be a better option. The buses do run more frequently during the week days and start earlier in the morning...

Thanks again :)

Hello Howie,

I would suggest who ever you choose is to just mention what your experience is and that you do go through air quick either when you make a booking or when you check in. The dive shops here are all great and work hard and making sure everyone has a good experience just let them know so they can help you the best they can when you arrive.

The dive shops: In town there are no dive centers but there not far away...
A ferry ride away to Dockyard is Fantasea Dive sports; they do beach dives and boat dives but depending on the day they tend to be quite busy as there are two large cruise ships up by them (Fantasea Bermuda | Professionally Operated Bermuda Chartered Boat Tours and Recreation)
A ferry + bus ride (or bus ride from town) is Blue Water divers located at somerset bridge. These guys are great and they run regular one or two tank dives as well from their location (Blue Water Divers & Watersports (Bermuda))
A bus ride from town heading west and is closer is Dive Bermuda which runs off of the Southampton Princess is Southampton parish. These guys do beach and boat dives on a regular basis as well as having two and one tank dives. (Bermuda Dive: Bermuda Diving at the Fairmont Southampton)

from here we head East from your location in Hamilton.

East we Have
Triangle Diving: great very personal dive location and a bus ride away. These guys do the two and one tank dives as well (Triangle Diving Bermuda - Best Dive Shop)
Tuckers point dive center: same thing great people like all of us here in Bermuda and similar dives (Tucker´s Point Dive & Water Sports Centre)

hope this helps!

Ok, I need more help please. I've been in contact with Dive Bermuda, but it sounds like its a pain to get to them from where I'm going to be and I'm not too pleased by their responses by email. It looks like Fantasia Bermuda is the closest to me from the port, but having issues getting a hold of them too. At this rate I may get stuck just doing the boat excursion since the travel is all included and I dont need to deal with my own transportation etc. Though paying $200 for 2 dives seems a little excessive to me, though the other dive shops are pretty pricy too at $130-$160 for 2 dives (plus cost to get to them).

Since the folks I am going with dont dive, I'm looking for the least hassle to get myself to a dive location, and hopefully not get lost in the process.

Hello Howie,

1st where are you going to be located upon getting to Bermuda? If you are coming by cruise ship and into Dockyard the Dive shop their is Fantasea. If you book through the ship it tends to be more expensive because they want to take a cut of the goods. I can understand why it might be hard to get ahold of them through email because they are pretty much out on a boat or doing dives most of their time and don't always get to a computer. The other dive location which is a ten minute bus ride or Taxi ride is Blue Water Divers and they do a two tank dive in the morning as well or a single dive in the afternoon.

Let me know where you are going to be and I can see if there are any more options... when are you coming in to the island as well?

I see that you're beginning to get a taste of the "real" Bermuda. $15 for a bag of ice at the supermarket barely raises an eyebrow. That is one REALLY expensive island.

Where do you buy that ice from?? It is expensive.. but across the stree a bag of ice is $8.. unless you get the giant bag which is $12.... but depends where you get it too... close to town... more expensive..

Hi! I just have a quick question. I'll be in Bermuda for a week for one of my college courses. A friend and I were hoping to get some diving in while we're there. Because we'll be occupied a large portion of the time with research for the class we thought shore dives (as opposed to scheduling a boat) might work best. Any suggestion on shops for tank rentals and/or dive sites?

Yeah, especially if you buy at the MarketPlace on the day before cup match! I've been to Bermuda at least 20 times. After Norway, I would rate it as the next most expensive place to visit. :)

you can dive from elbow beach, haven't tried it but I hear it isn't great..

other than that not much shore diving to be done without having your own gear.

Grotto Bay does some shore diving too...
The water is starting to cool off now at this time of year and with all the storms lurking around during September we had some fish disappear (they head deep if there is a storm around) so the snorkeling and diving was kinda off last month... but with the cooling temps there will be better clarity and some fish... I heard the other day someone spotted a small reef shark inside the reef.. always fun :D
enjoy diving

BDAfreediver: Thanks for your post's - very helpful.
I'll be over your way, but not until May! Looking forward
to the visit.
Thanks once again.
