How do I know which year Sola I have?

Hi All,

I purchased a Sola Video 1200 earlier this year (Around April 2012). Is there a way to tell if I have a 2011 or 2012 version? Just in case I purchased an older stock from the LDS?

Reason being I wanted to get a T-Handle for my light.

Hi Mulla,
The 2011-style strap looks like this, and cannot be replaced with the 2012 style (the bodies of the light have changed).

The new 2012 style strap looks like this—if you got this one, your light will be compatible with the T-handle.

Thank you for the prompt reply. Unfortunately, I do not have the strap on mine. I've got the video 1200 with the camera tray at the moment. Looking to double it up as a light using the T-handle. Is there a way I can tell from the body of the light which year of manufacture it is?

Look at the d-ring/mount dovetail on the bottom of the light. If the mounting dovetail is held in place by an allen screw near the bezel of the light, and has flat sides, it is a 2012 light.

If the dovetail has a lengthwise groove on either side, and doesn't have a visible screw holding it in place (it would be held in place with a set screw located under the locline mount) then it is a 2011 light.
