It is rock solid combination that excels in cold water. If you aren't needing the sealed 1st (cold or dirty), the mainstream MK-25 may be a better choice. The "drawback" of the MK-17 is that it does not have a swivel, so hose routing is a "challenge". The 17/G250V is my main reg. I will caution: the cost is high for SP, and you no longer have the free parts available unless you are buying a full package.

MK17/G250V. Excellent reg.

Hi everybody,
Time to get a regulator that you can still get service parts for (time to retire the Scubapro Mk 7 - AIR 1).

What parts do you need? Rebuild kits for both those regulators are still available, but some other parts are not. Even so, there are parts around.

Nothing wrong with the MK17/G250V; it's a great choice for a new regulator. But it's not likely to be an improvement in terms of breathing ease over your current set up. It would certainly be less to carry than the MK7!

Thanks Halocline.
I don't think anything is going to breathe better than my AIR 1.
But hey, with the Mark 7 I don't need much lead on the belt !!!
