Ack! Come on, How cold was it?????

A large group of us were at Vista Point for the polar bear dive. This was a truly beautiful day at the lake with air temperatures in the high 70s and hardly a breeze. Few boaters this time of year and the lack of wind allow the water to stay flat.
Our first dive we followed the rail to the treasure chest which we found at a depth of 70'. Both the visibility and water temperature were consistant at 20' and 53* a few bass were spotted on this dive.

The second dive we crossed over the ramp to the boulders and noticed an assortment of chain, a racket strap and a license plate. After a nice scan of the boulders as we headed back we were greeted by a nice sized catfish.

All in all a great way to close out the years diving. Got to see some divebuddies I hadn't seen in a while and make some new ones.

Excellent! :clapping:

I'd say, "wish I were there", but at those temps, I know better.

OK, I dove 1 dive on the 29th, from the Scorpion Bay Gate.
Parked the car on the mid narrow-long peninsula that was created due to the water level.
Max depth: 50', no thermocline, 79f, 45min.

I dove 2 dives on the 30th, from Vista Point:
(I) Max depth: 93' (to the wall), thermocline ~57', drops the temp from 77f to 62f (and maybe less), 41min.
after finishing Safety Stop, and almost got out of the water, I see a Sea Turtle about 1' diameter, but it to seconds for this one to leave a "Smoke Tail" after... :shakehead:.
(II) Max depth: 35', temp 79f, 55min.

but it to seconds...
but it took seconds...

Was diving at Tech Island on Friday the 28th of September, and it was amazing for the lake. Had visibility at least 15 feet, maybe more...as giladshay said, no thermocline down past 50'......but then it got cool!

Anyone planning on diving Lake Pleasant on Saturday, 3/16? I would like to go for a dive and practice shooting a surface marker or two. Main dive buddy is out of town and I want to go for a dive. If anyone is headed there this weekend I would like to join in.

Feel free to PM me.

Thanks

Karen

I'll be there this weekend, but I'll be in an IE, so no fun diving for me :(

If you can make it out on the 23rd, I'd be happy to make the drive up and shoot some tubes.

Anyone been to the lake in the last couple of weeks? Water level up or still low? Vis more than a few feet? Wondering about Vista Point and DT...thanks for any replies : )
