USS Tarpon - submarine off NC

Have been trying to find a dive operation that visits a US sub - Tarpon - that is off coast of NC.
Anyone know of a shop that runs to this wreck?

Atlantis in Morehead City used to head up there a few times a summer but Hatteras is the closest port.

You can check with Dave at Dive Hatteras (DiveHatteras.com - NC shipwreck diving at it's best!) or Bill at Outer Banks (OBXDIVE :: Nags Head, NC).

Great dive been there many times. Dave at Dive Hatteras is the only 1 down there if you are looking to dive it anytime in the near future. JT will be back there next season. capt-jt.com.
Don't think Bill will make that trip without a full boat at premium price.

It's pushing the rec limits, but if conditions are good (ie: current), I'd be interested in diving this. I'd just stay above 130ft.

We dive the Tarpon on a regular basis. It is a standard rate offshore dive so there is no additional cost. The run time to the site is right at 90 mns in normal conditions. The info on the dive site is on my web page and Tarpon is generally considered to be an advanced dive. You reach the deck at the bow about 110 so depth is 120 to 140 and current is likely but it can sometimes have none, vis is usually very good. If you want to ensure that you dive this site get some of your dive buds together and charter the whole boat and pick your dives sites limited only by the sea conditions and your skill levels.

Be glad to dive there with you, Tarpon is always a grat dive.

I have been contacted by someone from dive shop in Woodbridge, Va (Woodbridge Scuba) - they dive the U boats a lot - they have not put out a schedule for 2013 yet - will put out info when they do or u can contact them yourself.
I am looking to come up (Im from Texas) in spring and spend some time diving all available subs - there are at least 4 or 5 along the coast, including a US sub.

Bill at Woodbridge offers a U-boat course for the boats on the East coast. Tom takes trips to the U-1105 in the Potomac river when the tides are right. I dove the U-701 yesterday with Tom (& Outer Banks Dive Center) and the conditions were absolutely beautiful.

I have been trying to dive the 701 for years but can't seem to time it right. How was the current on your dive?

1/2 knot at best on the bottom. I did my stop without even hanging on the line. Seas were 1 ft with 9 second intervals - it was like glass. Viz was 50-60 feet. I'll share some video once it gets cleaned up.
