Heh heh heh. I knew where this was going from the thread title.

Hi, my name is freewillie. I'm a scubaholic ......

I need regular meetings with similarly afflicted people at regular intervals for support. Meeting preferably on a dive boat. Given the depth of my addiction any boat and any condition will suffice, including cold water dives requiring full 7 mm wetsuits and gear. If it gets any worse I may need a "dry" suit. If a boat isn't available meetings can be held on a beach.

If actual diving is not available then online support is available.

Unfortunately there is no cure and I have to keep coming back.

Actually, it is an addiction, not a disease. The good news is that a 12 step program does not cure the addiction. Welcome to the affliction.
Two months ago I hesitantly took an OW course "for my husband." He so wanted to dive and I figured for his birthday I would give it my best shot. Not the most comfortable around water I was a bit nervous but I made it through the course and enjoyed it. Now I am working on more training and as stated in a previous post bought my own gear. After only 13 dives I have sad news.

Today I discovered I have a disease.

Scubitis.
I am addicted to diving.

I am not hopeful for a cure.

It's not a disease, it's a symbiotic relationship ;P !!!!!!......When you start thinking of getting gills, call me.....I know people :D !!!!!

There is actually a song called Scubaholic, on a cd called Scuba Tunes, which I think is still available for purchase on scubaradio.com. There are 2 cd's, volume 1 and 2 and both have some fun songs.

Get yourself some Eric Stone for the iPod. There is no cure, but there is hope for a pretty good quality of life. Good luck. You are among friends.

Nitrogen is the most addictive gas out there that I know of!

Welcome to club of scubaholics! You could be me - I resisted for years and finally caved in in March and did DSD in Grand Cayman. Can we say "hooked?"

My husband knows he can find me in the quarry or LDS we frequent. I can find some neat stuff in dive shops and online!!! Did dive 13 yesterday with my husband - we tagged along with a group from our preferred dive shop (a class) and we were able to just swim along and work on our buoyancy and getting to know our comm system with our full face masks and trying out some underwater lights. We spent 50 wonderful minutes together! Viz was pretty good in most spots, lousy in others, but it was terrific!

Unfortunately, I found the underwater photography. Anxiously awaiting the arrival of my system!

What a lovely addiction!

Diving is just an addiction. Avoid Underwater Photography as it has been known to kill a wallet.

The wallet just got killed.
