We were right next to them Right at the beach. We kept looking for more. I think next year we are going to have some kind of banner, that way it will be much easier for all. A couple of them had SB shirts on. I am sorry for missing you.

I know Gold Coast is going to be at the bridge at 7:30am on sunday for a Pumpkin Carving Contest I haven't decided if i'm going or not --

Don't hold out too much hope for Sunday. Seas are going to remain high over the weekend and lots of rain seems to be coming. Last time we had a storm go through it took well over a week for things to clear out. Water ranged from pea green to milk, with 1-5' vis even at high tide.

Hope the early morning pumpkin carving is not underwater, as there may be a few carved fingers if the vis is 1'!

I know some hard-core trolls have fun in 5' vis, but I live here so will just wait for better. I'm just a spoiled and lazy troll . . . .

Still, if there are any reports please post. Maybe it won't get as bad as it looks.

I saw on the local WPB news tonight that the water management district is dumping canal water into Lake Worth--this is the leftovers from TS Issac in August. They are getting ready for Sandy. The Lake Worth lagoon is the body of water under BHB my guess is it will be really horrible viz for a couple of weeks.

I'm told that the usually abundant bristleworms at BHB are gone. The little wrecks are stripped of their usual sponges, etc. More fresh water probably won't help. The species count is narrowing--will it continue???

Tuesday, viz was sucky, 5-15 ft, with lots of particulates--better when they got in about an hour before hi tide. Very likely, it is heading down from there today and for the weekend at a minimum. In the last few weeks, viz has ranged from handinfrontofface to 30 ft or more. 1 bristleworm is what I was talking about--for some years, it has been closer to 1 per square yard!! 1 was seen on each of the last several dives--a tiny percentage of what we saw as recently as August.

Just like any magical place, BHB is sometimes hidden from us. Jenny and I tried to dive on Halloween last year. It was like pea soup! We were both hanging on to the flag to keep from losing each other.
We called the dive after getting excited to finally see a crab. Here is what I'm thinking we can expect until things settle down from Sandy:

Thanks for the report Jim. Whats funny is I had no idea what I had seen (not a species expert by any stretch) until you posted and I subsequently googled what a Bristleworm looked like. Glad I follow the don't touch anything rule.
