The omd, housed, is more than a bit more money. The oly housing, is $1200 and has no compatibility with all the other PEN ports and housings.

The nauticam housing is $1400 plus port, and the port for the 12-50 lens is $800!

The epl5, in an oly housing, will be about the same price as the nauticam housing, alone.

To me, the elp5, with the same sensor, autofocus speed, and contrinuous drive speed as the omd, looks like the bargain of the century.

It is compatible with all oly lenses and ports but you need the zen port adaptor which I ordered for 100 dollars.

Don is talking about the EPL-5 and is housing being the bargain of the century, i believe that you purchased the EM-5 and housing?
The EPL-5 housing when released won't need any adapters for the older Zen ports to fit. . .

Yes I know. I wish the wind would stop so i could take the rig underwateer

New lenses including the 60mm macro and 12-50 (at 12 and 50mm only by power zoom in macro and W/A mode) will work with the stock port.

Phil Rudin

Hi Phil,

excuse me being a bit naive because I haven't used this style of camera in a housing, but definitely thinking of upgrading to the EPL5 (currently using a Canon S95).

From what you have said I gather that the 60mm macro and the 12 - 50 work fine with the standard Olympus housing and port. Is there any vignetting with the 12 - 50 behind the standard port?

Could you clarify what you mean by "at 12 and 50mm only by power zoom in macro and W/A mode". Does the zoom function of the 12 - 50 work in the standard housing? Does macro mode have to be pre-set before the dive and then can't be changed?

Is the standard 14 - 42 mm kit lens likely to cause zoom noise when using video?

Can 'wet lenses' be attached directly to the standard port or is an adaptor needed?

Sorry for the 'basic' questions but it is hard to work some of these things out when I haven't had any hands on experience with this type of camera and housing.

Thanks!

Has anyone tried fitting the E-PL5 in the older PT-EP01 housing? I ask because someone else here put an E-PL5 in the housing for the E-pl3, and it worked OK, except the video and review buttons. But you can do video via the mode dial. Anyone tried this with the E-PL5?

The target camera (E-pl1) is quite a bit different than the E-PL3/5, i have doubts... However, I will receive my E-PL5 hopefully at the end of the week and if a local storekeeper will be so kind to let me try my camera in a few housings, it would be great... (I am especially interested in pl1-2-3 10bar housings, rather than Olympus plastics).
