I've got a friend sailing on NCL in March. Does anyone know what operator they use? They don't dock until 10am so I'm not sure they can use anyone other than the ship's excursion.

Thanks!

You might check around on that. Depending some might bend the schedule to meet your friend's need. I would do that WAY before settling for the concession op.

The tug docks at 10am Cozumel time? Those boats often keep original port time so if they are coming from Florida, there could be a time difference. Do you know what time it leaves Coz, on Coz time?

I would think a dive Op with a noon boat would work.

+1 for knowing the local time vs ship time. If the ship arrives 10AM Coz time, check with Aldora Divers as they have a boat that goes out @10:30 to accommodate cruise divers. I was scheduled to use them the last time through Coz on a cruise, but a knee problem got in my way and had to cancel. They use steel 120s and long dive times. However, if your ship arrival time does not work with Aldora or others, it might be a good time to use the ship's dive excursion.

Using the cruiseline's dive op is not mandatory. One can arrange for a dive op to pick you up thru the internet or by phone. When we went to Grand Cayman last, we contacted Off The Wall divers and they were sure to have us back before the boat left...that's the real problem. MAKE SURE they will get you back before the boat has to board for departure, they know when the boat departs.

One is a very new diver, the other has not been diving in years! (Yes, I've advised him to do a refresher). I really would like for them to dive NOT with ship's operator, I've made that mistake! My favorite operator only does cruise ships now as a private charter. Not sure they want to pay that.

Their ship departs at 6pm.

Thanks!

Have them contact some operations - you don't know until you ask. If the ship departs Florida then 10am ship time is 9am Cozumel time. Most will require a minimum of four to send out a mid-morning boat (including Aldora if I am not mistaken) - but many of us are willing to work with the ship passengers as long as advance reservations and arrangements are made.

Again, about the times. Make sure you are working with Coz times as compared to ship times.

I don't think you'll need to charter a private boat, but I would strongly recommend they hire a private DM. Money well spent.

To avoid confusion - make sure you tell the operator your ship time and where your cruise originates. Then the operator can figure out whether or not they can accommodate your arrival and departure times.

Ship time is always based on the time from the ships originating port.

From Galveston (central time) = ship time is the same as Cozumel time
From New Orleans (central time) = ship time is the same as Cozumel time
From Florida (Eastern time) = ship time is one hour later than Cozumel time

Thanks all!
