Hey everyone,

I've been out of the SCUBA game for a while. University consumed my life for a number of years =(.

Anyway, I'm taking a job just south of Moncton, in Sackville, New Brunswick, and I was wondering if you have any info on close'ish Dive shops? All I can find online are shops in St. Johns and Halifax.

Thanks =)

Try www.diveforum.ca as they may have more local knowledge....or they may not. I used them when I last went to NS to dive.

Also, there is a dive shop in Charlottetown....Black Dolphin Diving & Watersports.....that is about 30 minutes closer each direction thank Halifax. Looks like Sackville may not be the diving mecca of the world.....looks like drive have to you will (said in my best Yoda voice). You seem to be in a similar situation to me BUT you have decent diving much closer.

A few years back there was sea wolf in st Anne or st George, try to connect with the tankers scuba club as they are very active and know the sites, I can give you a contact email if you like.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the info, and I'd love for a contact email. I've mostly dove fresh water so it would be great to hook up with some local people who are active.

From the google; Navy Island Divers and Tidal Divers.

a friend used to dive the bay de chalure in Northern NB.

Try Glenn.lynk@facebook.com if that doesn't work I have another, mention "Jay" passed it on.

ive done about a dozen dives around there, interesting, cold and of course huge tidal exchanges. Also, I believe that university of Fredericton has a scuba club. Best of luck!

A number of the Moncton divers are on Facebook (www.nbdivers.ca, or https://www.facebook.com/groups/deerislanddivers/). The dive destinations closest to you will be in NB near Beaver Harbour, or Deer Island for more advanced diving.. and in NS (Halifax) for shore & wreck diving. There is lots available within a 2-3 hour drive though. Local in Moncton area there are a few sites to explore as well. You should have no problem finding buddies on the Facebook page.

Yes you will have to drive but you are moving to the hub of the Maritimes. From your location you can reach numerous dive spots within a few hours, you can go to PEI, Cape Breton, Halifax, Eastern Shore of NS, Deer Is., Gaspe PQ.(I drive a min. of an hour and 15 min. everytime I go out which is often) all have great diving with varying types of underwater venues. There are several books available at the local dive shops that give excellent driving directions and let you know about the diving conditions. You should have no problems hooking up with the locals and getting out anytime you would like.

Not much of a dive scene here on PEI. Only one dive shop and it is a commercial outfit mostly doesn't really cater to rec divers. Black Dolphin is not open anymore they shut the doors three years ago. Halifax is wonderful with a large group of diver to hook up with. Torpedo Rays is where you'll want to go for gear and such in Dartmouth.
