Sorry to hear that you got ill cvchief. I've been so paranoid this last week or so about catching anything. I'm dreading the plane ride. Have to remember to pick up a few of those tiny bottles of hand sanitizer... you know, the ones labeled "Patron"

Just one more work day and a busy Saturday, cleaning house... and packing gear. Can't wait.
And, an update, I'll be staying at Suites Bahia and diving with Tres Pelicanos. Going out with Servando the day I get their for a refresher, get some new gear wet, and to learn the ropes a bit. Hope to see some of you while I'm there.

It was so bad, I left a 1/2 a margarita on the table at El Moro Wednesday. That tells you how BAD I felt. Apparently it is that stomach flu thing with the fever and cramps and all. At least it was at the end of the trip. Apparently, I forgot rule number one: When traveling in Mexico, drink sufficient tequila to protect yourself from any virus you might meet along the way. Should have drank more, but I felt bad for the Marchers....

Actually, I did hear that you left ONE margarita behind .... but without photographic proof, I'm not sure I believe it!

ps .... hope you're recovering!! Kinda sucks ending a vacation on such a miserable note. Guess you'll have to get back to Coz fast so you can erase the memory from your mind!

I CLEARLY did not have enough of the Patron sanitizers... Another thing to note, the lime soup at El Moro was EXCELLENT with nice shredded white meat chicken. Mi Capitan says lime soup is good for you when ill, but perhaps that only translates to hung over? Others in our party tried the corn soup. It was so good, apparently, one of them ordered a second bowl. I didn't finish all of my soup and cried a little about the half a marg a was letting on the table. Ray hugged me anyway and expressed his wishes that his 'hermano' got better soon.... I even skipped the Xtabentun, which tells you how close to death's door I felt. Worse the duty free was out of it, so we are going to have to ration the supply until we get there again.

And someone dumped some money into that Tres Pelicanos outfit. They have a VERY nice, very new, stake body pickup running in and out of Caleta.

So... I wake up around 2:30 AM... and I happen to go turn on my old phone, the one that I am taking to COZ... it had been charging. It shudders and groans in the most annoying fashion imaginable. I pick it up, the once sleek, cutting edge design, now seeming so flimsy, and hold it like some kind of interesting thing that I'm not sure of. It's technological virulence deeply diminished, the message on it's screen was sneeringly potent -- my connecting flight to COZ from Charleston has been... cancelled.

I seethed.

Update...

So... I'm in Charleston. I never did get to talk to US Airways. From 3 AM until 4 AM I was on hold. So... I found that there was a US Air flight earlier. Way earlier. Leaving at 5:20. It was 4:15. Thanks to having already packed and checklisted everything, I made the decision to go for it. My ride and I sped off to TYS airport in Knoxville, which is nice and small... unlike Charleston... Wonder of wonders, they got me on the early flight, my bagged checked (fingers crossed), and myself through TSA... except...

My checked bag, with diving gear, was overweight. To avoid paying $90, I took some stuff out and used my dive bag as my second carry on. I threw in a "bunch of stuff" from one bag to the other. Well, one of the things I threw in was a waist pack that I take hiking and fishing. TSA was proud to tell me about the jackknife that I had left in it....

Still can't believe I got on that flight. Now... if I can just get some sleep....
