I'm in Cozumel right now.

I'm in between dive shops at the moment....

Think I might go cenote diving tomorrow, if I can arrange it between now and then.

Does anyone know a reputable, decently priced, outfit that can give me explicit instructions on how to meet them (don't want any "can't get there from here" issues... sorry, I grew up in Maine)? Let me be more exact:

* I imagine I'd take the ferry. I imagine that I'd get a ticket in the AM. I don't know what time it leaves. I don't know how much money to bring. I THINK I know where it is (I'm at the Bahia).

* I imagine some nice person from the cenote dive shot would meet me, and all of my soggy gear, at the ferry in Playa. I really don't want to TAXI. That would suck.

* I imagine they'd take me for a dive. That would be nice :). TWO would be better.

* I imagine this would all cost $150 us dollars or less... and they'd feed me pineapple....

I use the word imagine because I hate to assume... it just makes an ASS out of U and ME.... which I've had happen lately. So...

If you have a web site, or an email address... let me know. OH...

And..

Email is the only viable communication option -- as TMobile wants 10billion pesos just for touching my phone.

PM me here is the best way to communicate the info.

Thanks.

Aldora set me up with someone last year. They were at the ferry to meet me in PDC.

Using pictures about the ferry here along with links to the ferry schedule

Go outside your hotel. Face the water. Turn right. Walk to the square area (past the Mexican flag). When you get to the Las Palmeras restaurant, cross the street to the left and you will be at the ferry.

Only buy one way ferry tickets: 156 pesos each way. Looks like 600 AM, 700 AM, 900 AM and 1000 AM (plus later) Cozumel to PDC departures.

I suggest not going to Chac Mool/Kukulkan. The halocline was so stirred up that it was like diving in an oil/water mixture.

Dos Ojos or Gran/carwash would be far better IMO.

I dive with Living Underwater in Cozumel. When I wanted to try cenote diving, Jeremy set everything up, hauled my gear to the ferry and helped fet it to the loading area. In Playa, a guide met me, carried my gear to his truck and we were off. Unfortunately I don't remember the op's name but if I can find his card in my crap drawer, I will let you know. Otherwise, you could try calling LU for help.

Thanks guys :) I knew I could count on you.

I stopped by Aldora. I'll be diving with them tomorrow. I also talked to them about Cenotes. Indeed, they will set it up -- and they don't even take a commission.

While I was there -- wonders of wonders -- in walks a girl. Ok, that's not so much of a wonder. She is from MOSCOW AND she spoke Russian with me (I speak Russian... in fact, NullNullSem means... 0 0 7 ).

Apparently, there's a different group of four Russians coming in as well :).

I got to speak to Dave himself along with one of the instructors, and Flora, and a DM in training, about my concerns and such. I think everything is going to be... otliichno :)

Thanks for the info on the Cenotes. The Russian girl is also very interested in doing it for one day.

If you dont need your hand held, grab your gear, take ferry to playa, find rickshaw guy, take collectivo to dos ojo's. On site dive shop will take you on dive. Repeat as necessary.

Have fun tomorrow! You guys will be quite the boat...
See you on the beach!

Mexico Blue Dream Mexico Blue Dream, Playa Del Carmen, Mexico

They met us at the pier, had a van ready, took us on two dives, hooked us up with local lunch, and brought us back in time for the afternoon ferry!

Great trip and great shop!

As for the Russian Invasion -- I think it might just be my Gringo self and my newly met Moscow comrade. I don't know when the other foursome is coming in. Feel free to say hello if you spy me (spy, NullNullSem, 007, get it? :) ). Dork. yeah I know.

I usually don't... but I'm just getting sick of the run around. In the states EVERYTHING requires double checking to see if "the computer" got it right, in other places in life you have to see if you're 'getting what you paid for'... I just would like something to deliver what they say they're going to deliver... and I'm not up for a "rickshaw" adventure with a soggy divebag slung across my back. Maybe I'm just getting old?

Thanks for the encouragement -- go get 'em tiger!

We are all getting old, the rickshaw/tricycle cart is just to get you and your gear up the hill from the ferry, which I recommend, unless someone is picking you up. There are videos on youtube of the various cenotes so you can get an idea of what they look like and decide where you would like to go. I have gone with "recommended shops" and didn't always get what I paid for. In specific, being told we would go one place and then switched to another. Have fun, the cenotes are spectacular.

Myself and my new friend/buddy are going tomorrow.
We are doing the "special", or prestige... that is -- the deeper, more advanced cenote, and then one of our choosing for the second. My buoyancy is really good... and she has over 1000 dives. If we can keep from cracking each other up long enough to keep the regs in our mouths we'll be fine (remember the last person you met where things were just easy and silly and you ended up just laughing about... life in general... like two rats on a raft in the middle of the ocean laughing for almost no reason...? Right... Oh, sorry, no romance novel likely... I'm a just a russky speakin red neck, hillbilly livin' in east tennessee with muh toes in da water, my ass in da sand. She's a Moscow elite, scuba master, heck, NINJA MASTER, and... she doesn't drink much.... To be Continued).

Cenotes tomorrow - ferry -- SEVEN freakin' AM. Hasta.
