Ok, I know that no one will cpmpare to Mr. Exley, but is there someone in the states that is considered to be heads and finas above the rest in terms of cave exploration and cave instruction??

(Yes i read your first sentence)

There will NEVER be another Sheck. Ever.

I tend to agree, and I think anyone that met him would as well. But, there are guys out there doing big dives, and they're the ones you probably haven't heard of, because there personality tends to not be self-aggrandizing (I think I just invented a word) who are incredible divers and great personalities in their own right.

NO!

I think you've got your answer. Nope. Never. Ever.

One of the reasons it's going to be hard to have another Sheck is that guy was such a pioneer. He laid soooo much groundwork and did so many things for the first time. Hard to do that again....you'd almost have to discover an entirely new type of diving that would need another pioneer.....

Sheck's compatriots are still around. The list is pretty large. Tom Mount and others come to mind.

However, Sheck was a nigh-optimal figure. Pioneer, teacher, leader, inspiration.

Very rare.

It is hard to come up with a historical analogue for his impact on Florida cave diving and diving in general. Perhaps T.E. Lawrence, Sir Hillary, Lindberg.

Not as famous, but maybe the same sort of personage.

Jarrod Jablonski is a very active cave explorer and excellent cave Instructor

That was not the question!
JJ is no Sheck

Sheck died while trying to set a record did he not? Anyone know what happened?
