We had about 15 black tip sharks with us for about an hour.

Nice, but just 15 black tips? I saw 3X that many on a dive in Tahiti. No other species on this dive?

Beautiful! Big enough to make it interesting, too. Nice shots.

Richard.

Well. 45 is certainly better than 15, but I'd be pretty happy seeing 15. I only saw three Ragged Tooth Sharks (Sand Tigers) on my trip to Aliwal Shoal and I was pretty pleased with that. I'll have to add Taihiti to my wishlist, though.

Nice pics.

Thanks but I can't claim the credit for the pics. One of my mates took the pics. The next day the guys were joined by four Tiger sharks. Ill try get a few pics from one of the guys that were there. It gives you a completely different outlook on sharks. The following day we were joined by a small white tip

The photos from the OP are Oceanic BT's no? I believe the French Polynesian sharks are Reef BT's. I use to see the odd Oceanic BT at Sharm's Sharks&Yolanda- impressive animals. 15 is a lot!

You are correct on the species. I thought it was going to be a lot scarier than it was.
I have never dived with sharks before and only felt a bit apprehensive while waiting to get back on the boat knowing that they were circling below us, but during the dive I was so in awe I think I clean forgot about fear.

One of the four tigers from the following days shark dive. Our group had to choose between a shark dive or a reef dive. We missed out on the tigers but had an insane dive with dolphins, turtles and a small white tip reef shark.

Awesome! Thanks for sharing the pictures.
My wife and I are going to Amanzimtoti for 10 days beginning March 15th and plan on doing at least 10 dives and one shark dive. Really looking forward to the shark dive and diving Aliwal Shoal.

I'm way jealous. Can't wait to get back. I don't know if you have booked dives with anyone as yet. If not get hold of the operation we joins on our trip. They have simple rooms above the little dive shop/ operation, the boats are well maintained and the staff are friendly and helpful. When we go back we will be heading back to them for sure. I've got a business card that I can post a pic of or send me a private message and I can send you some details. I'm not sure what the forums stand is on advertising so I don't want to just post stuff and step on anyone's toes.

We have a condo rented in Amazimtoti. My wife's parents are staying with us and hanging out around the condo when we are diving. We are planning on diving with Meridian Dive on recommendations from one of my wife's friends from South Africa.
The dive shops are all recommending 5 mil wetsuits and I only have a 3 mil. Wondering if anyone else dives in a 3 mil or if I will be too cold?
