Mocean Armor's Ken Corben and John Harvey are joining the crew for the week.

Ken is an Emmy award winning photographer and videographer. He has worked on shows and projects such as the Deadliest Catch, Shark Week, National Geographic and Hollywood movies.

John Harvey
an industrial designer and mechanical engineer who design’s and manufactures the housings using the latest 3d CAD and CNC machines to create the highest quality housings possible.

Their incredibly unique KISS vacuum seal enhances the housings integrity and protects against flooding
. No longer do you have to leave your smartphone topside. Mocean Armor makes it possible to use the powerful video and still cameras built in to today's hand held technology underwater.

Ken & John are bringing the entire Mocean Armor product line for crew members to demo thru out the entire week. Underwater housing systems and phones for the iPhone 4, iPhone 5, Galaxy s3 and Galaxy s4 can be used for free.

So how does it work?

I know I can't wait to try out shooting a smartphone underwater but it gets even better.
Ken is going to give a clinic on "
Shooting with Smartphones Underwater” and a “Shooting for the Edit" during the Invasion. Here is a chance to learn how a pro goes about capturing the underwater world.

Lens Options
Mocean Armor and Century Optics engineers have teamed up to design and manufacture a line of high quality optical solutions for use on smart phones underwater.
The lens elements are designed to the high standards Century Optics is known for in the world of Hollywood.
Specifically engineered as water contact lenses and user interchangeable in the field.
Lens options include: Macro Lens, .45X Extreme Wide Angle (100 deg field of view) and the Fisheye (170 deg field of view).
All Mocean Armor housings ship with a standard scratch resistant flat port.

Filter Options
Swing away filter system with user interchangeable filters – Mocean Armor has adapted Hollywood filmmaker techniques into our lens filter system.
Using a detachable swing away filter system allows the camera operator to select filters underwater at the touch of a finger.
The filter system prevents fumbling and loss of filters underwater.
In addition, the filter options for fresh water, salt water and fluoro diving can be easily installed pre-dive with our quick filter change design.
There is also a protective lens cover that swings in and out of position to eliminate filter and lens damage.

Fluoro Filter – Filming Biofluorescence at Night
The advanced techniques fromKen Corben’s biofluorescent film work with the National Geographic Society and researchers from YALE Medical School in the Solomon Islands last year
are now adapted to enable smart phones to capture remarkable results at night. Our dichroic filter fits the Mocean Armor swing away filter system and when combined with a collimated blue light source underwater, divers can see the hidden world of glowing life at night on the smart phone screen with out any filtration required in the mask. Ken documented this unique subject in 5K resolution using the EPIC camera from RED Digital Cinema. The results are featured in a special exhibit at the American Museum of Natural History in New York beginning April 14th. The expedition was documented in the New York Times Science Blog.

iTrack
The Mocean Armor electronic dive gauge module attaches to the front of the iSea 4 and iSea 5 housings.
This solid state module is powered by a 5 year battery and provides depth, time and ambient temperature information to the iPhone 4s or iPhone 5 via bluetooth 4.0 technology.
When combined with the FREE Mocean Armor APP on iTunes, the iPhone’s camera mode screen provides the depth, time and temperature in a heads up display like format.
Very helpful when your focused on an animal behavior and wondering what depth your passing through while in pursuit of a “money shot”. No need to look away for a depth gauge.

Mocean Armor APP
Available on iTunes, the Mocean Armor Camera APP enables users to switch between still and video mode underwater with a flick of the wrist.
This combined with our Roll to Wake feature further enhances the iPhone’s capability as an underwater HD video camera.
When you attach the Mocean Armor iTrack dive module to the housing , the APP logs your depth, time and water temp while displaying this information real time during shooting.
During your surface interval, the dive log can be edited on the iPhone then saved to a Cloud Server and/or uploaded to Facebook along with the video and photos from the dive.
The best part, the Mocean Armor APP is available FREE on iTunes.

Sounds wonderful! I have an IPhone 3 that says hello and goodbye. Do I have to upgrade to take pictures???

Guess my GoPro is obsolete, lol. I haven't learned much about it and now think I won't.

iPhone5? Hmmm.

This is an incredible addition to Invasion :)

Will the Galaxy s3 and Galaxy s4 model also fit the Nexus?
If so, when is it going to be available?

Great Questions.

Unfortunately, the NEXUS will not work since the camera lens position is radically different from the Galaxy s3 and s4 smart phones from Samsung.
Sorry to disappoint, we had to go with the top selling DROID model for 2013 given the lead times for design and manufacturing.

The requests from our DROID fans for a Mocean Armor housing design are overwhelming so we designed the GALAXSEA which will accommodate the Galaxy s3 and s4 smart phones from Samsung. An innovative Mocean Armor camera APP for DROID OS will be also be provided offering underwater shooters several unique options.

The Galaxy s4 smart phone begins shipping April 26th in the US (Verizon anyway?)
Pre-orders for the Mocean Armor GALAXSEA housing begin May 1, 2013.
Shipping for the GALAXSEA begins June 1, 2013.

This housing will be featured at Scuba Show 2013 in Long beach and will be available for divers to test dive at Invade Bonaire.
Product details, specs and ratings will be updated on our website before the Galaxy s4 begins shipping in April.

I am very excited to complete the dive testing of the GALAXSEA housing with our Century Lenses and swing away filter options.
Video and still shots to be posted from our test dives.

Thanks! Maybe I'll make the switch to a Galaxy 3.

What's the price on the Android housing?

Can you use the camera's zoom controls when it's in the housing?
