Always water in my mask

I've know of people having mask leaks if they exhale through their nose. Ask your instructor to observe and see if could be a cause

i have the same problem of having water constantly in my mask. and my mask fits me perfectly. on dry land, i can hold a seal with the mask on my face and without the strap holding it up, and hold it for a very long time without effort. i can move my head around, look up, sideways, every which way and the seal will hold.

as soon as i'm in the water, i can't hold a good seal if i had a million dollars riding on it. i'm still trying to figure out the problem, but suspect a lot of it may have to do with my breathing (unconsciously breathing in/out of my nose when i shouldn't). a small part of it may be when i exhale through the regulator and it pushes the air bubbles up towards my mask, i think it may dislodge my mask enough to let in some water.

to clear a mask you should look up while breathing out, but breathing out while face down will tend to let water in. at least for me.

I have had leak issues while snorkeling a few times, in fact yesterday. Problem was ht adjustment on snorkel clip. Snorkel was pulling on mask strap which was pulling on mask seal.

I quite often have a little bit of water in my mask. Can't say it bothers me. I do have my mask very loose though...

I used to have this problem. 1) I had the mask too tight. 2) I have a habit of exhaling from my nose. 3) A different better fitting mask made the difference, even though the first one seems to fit well.

About the new mask, because it feels different than my first one; The rubber around the mask was much softer. My new mask is a frameless low volume mask, so it doesn't feel as rigid either and molds to my face better. I ordered my new mask online without having ever tried it on, which isn't recommended, but the price was too good to pass up. I ordered the Hog low volume frameless for $29. I have no idea if the mask will work for you, that's up to you to determine.

Pinching the nose to equalize always lets a bit of water into my mask. It's probably a sign of the mask not 100% perfectly fitting, but I have limited choice of masks due to my requirement for optical lenses.

Nose breathing is a big culprit, and likely contributing to your problem. Also, I find effective a small bead of silicon grease around the entire mask skirt to prevent annoying leakage. Focus on those two things- less nose breathing and a little silicon grease, and I think you problem will go away.
