This is where Worthington's steel scuba cylinders are made. I wonder where they will be made in the future.

That is how I read it. They are done. I need a few more so maybe now is the time. I like the ones I have. Does anyone els do the dip galvanized?

Worthington has many plants around the world. The question is; Will the machinery (deep draw) and tooling go to another of their facilities? The E cylinder exemption will have to be reapplied for, as the E number only applies to a single manufacturing location.

Browsed the WWW today, everything is being sold to an undisclosed US competitor, reason for closing : Chinese cylinders flooding the market, not enough business to support 2 US manufacturers.

I wonder who will step up to replace them in the market. Perhaps Faber or Hieser if there is to be no North American made? Hope to find out soon.

Just checked for the expiry of the special permits for the cylinders. The permits were renewed(SU4957) June 3 2011 in Canada and (SP 14157) July 31st 2011 in the US. The Canadian one will expire on June 3 2013 if not renewed and the US on July 31st 2015 if it was renewed for the maximum allowed 4 years (not sure if it was).

Am sure now it expires--February 28, 2015

Rumor has it that the equipment is being sold to Norris Cylinder. It will be interesting to see if they make scuba cylinders and whether XS or Cramer Decker, who has a past relationship with Norris, will be the distributors.
