Sweet guys,will PM when we're there,recommendations for dive ops and sites to do this time of year?

oh wow! a thread with my name in it and I haven't even replied! bad hootie! Please see my post entitled "desperately seeking .... " a little more info about me...I'm from the US but living here in the Cape Town area...Melkbos to be exact. I LOVE it here. It is so much better than the US with the exception of the COLD water!! I have my AOW cert and nitrox cert. 50 or so dives but all of them in very warm tropical waters (florida keys, mexico, hawaii, fiji, australia) with the exception of a few dives here in SA. The water here is FREEZING to me BUT I am passionate about diving and have accepted and embraced the fact that if I'm going to live here, I'm going to suck it up and DIVE HERE....cold water be damned! I might need a little extra TLC but I'm gonna do it. I have dived with Pieces and they were great and ditto for Into the Blue and both were great. I just had my gear serviced at Alpha Divers and felt like I want to dive with them. Hubby is an instructor at Koeberg so I have most days free during the week. He dives as well but def likes the warm water!!! Want to get him accustomed to diving here though. Pleasure to "meet' y'all!

Ahaa, so as usual I'm digging up old(er) threads

Hi, my name is Martin and I too am a member of OMSAC. I have been living in Cape Town since April 2012 after moving down from Pretoria. I did my OW and AOW certs the May after I moved here. Not surprisingly, I frequently dive with the rest of the OMSAC guys like Stephen who you will see in a lot of my dive videos.

As much as I love diving, I love documenting my dives. Together with my fiance, we shoot video and photos of every dive we do with the hope of capturing as much as possible of the underwater beauty and bringing it back to the surface to share with the world. I am the owner of the website and associated social media accounts under the name "Diver's Digest", through which I share all the photos, videos, and general dive news I encounter.

To date, I have only dived in and around Cape Town but hope to expand that to at least more local sites within the next year or two. I also want to push to finish my EANx and EFR certs this year, to be quickly followed by Deep and hopefully eventually Advanced Nx.

And that's about it for now!

I live in Joburg, and have done a lot of diving in the usual quarries here I ahve also dived/instructed in Zanzibar and dived in Italy, Seychelles Sodwana Bay and have plans for Aliwal and Protea.

I have an absolute love for the underwater world and am just love being in the water and under the water on scuba.

Seems like a lot of CT peeps here, no one from Joburg?

I think there are a few others from Jo'burg hanging around Scubaboard, but not all of them have introduced themselves here. But, yes, it does seem like there are more Capetonians here.

I'm Chris and I'm from Ballito. Did my OW cert last month at Sodwana and have since done another 4 dives in Oman last week. Going out with DUC next Saturday to see the containers in Durban.

First weekend of September I'm booked to do AOW and Nitrox at Sodwana again.

Who else is Durban or KZN north coast based here on SB?

Hi Chris! Um, off the top of my head, I think you're first member from Durban. The rest of us seem fairly evenly split between cold-water Cape Town and landlocked Jo'burg. Strange, no, when Durban is probably the closest to SA's best diving?
