I just like the fact that Mike was buying 600 rounds. My kind of guy. Bet that was all you could carry or there'd have been more, eh?:D

Sure glad none of those landed on anyone's toe. It might have tingled a little.

I think Mike is doing what I'm doing now. Watching for good deals to restock shelves as the crunch subsides.

On another note, have any of you finished an 80% AR receiver? This is the bottom part of the AR that holds the clip. Looking for advice and pitfalls.

600 rounds is a pretty good amount.

What did you pay for it Mike?

I was in Bass Pro Shop recently and was picking up some 45acp in 100 round boxes, I was trying to carry 6 of them and had them stacked up one on top of the other

I like the 250 round mega packs. Generally cheaper, and easier to carry. :)

I think they were in the $45.00 range for Winchester brand.

Okay - here is the video - I can't remember who first showed me this, but it's an excellent, entertaining and informative video that test ammunition and clears up any myths or notions we might have about it.

They test it by, dropping it, shooting it, running it over with a bull dozer, burn it.. etc... they even do a simulated gun store fire...

Well worth watching

I started crying and had to stop watching when they started grinding those bullet-thingys under the dozer treads.

I bought my son 3750 rounds of CCI "AR Tactical" for his M&P 15-22 for a birthday present (I think they're probably just re-labeled Mini Mags, but that thing is kind of picky and they run really well through it). Found it on Gunbroker.com and the guy I bought it from said he was going to nominate me for father of the year. My wife just rolled her eyes when he unwrapped the very heavy package.

Wow. 28,000 rounds and 18,000 rounds in bonfires, and no penetration at all of a second layer of 1/2 sheet rock, even at just 15". 115,000 rounds in a stockroom fire simulation, and no serious damage, just a lot of noise! And after nearly 5 minutes of out of control fire, the fully involved stock room fire was controlled in @10 seconds, with a substantial amount of the inventory visibly undamaged.

Really blows holes in the worry that someone's home stock of ammo is a hazard to others.

To try to redeem my part in this derailment, I will try to post a video later that I believe many will truly find a extremely interesting, destroy many myths and be a game changer sometimes for the most experienced of fire arm users

I'll preface it with why I was reminded of it.

I was in Bass Pro Shop recently and was picking up some 45acp in 100 round boxes, I was trying to carry 6 of them and had them stacked up one on top of the other, as I was heading to the stairs I was passing by their little room that contains their high dollar shotguns and such and figured I'd zip in and take a look on my way out... I cut the turn too quickly and two of the boxes got loose and fell to the ground and one broke wide open and the ammo flew everywhere, there were 3 Bass employees standing together in the doorway just a couple of feet away, one of them reacted to the ammo spill by jumping up and out of the way trying to avoid being killed I guess. I just stood there looking at him kind of dumbstruck for a moment until it dawned on me that the guys reaction was to the ammo hitting the ground and he was in fear of being struck by one of them going off....

It got better... when I realized why he did what he did I kind of laughed and mentioned he was in no danger... this is when another employee came over and started telling a story about how this happened in another store and a handfull of rounds had gone off and how lucky we all were that nothing happened this time... all three of the employees were in agreement with lots of head nodding, that they had just gone through a very dangerous episode and were happy they had survived without a wound... two of the three were gray haired and I've seen them before and suspect they have quite a bit of experience and knowledge with firearms, but they were all convinced that dropping bullets on the concrete floor could easily result in some going off and that had they gone off that the danger was extremely high that someone could have been possible killed or seriously injured...

I'd copy that video, and drop it off at the Bass Pro shop offices, with an explanation that some of their staff is dispensing erroneous info to their customers.

I really like my HK P30. I like the 15 round double stacker Magazine.
