Now, the fun part - from looking at OCEARCH's site, this isn't Katherine. No tags are visible, but then again the viz and video quality are pretty crappy. However, on May 6 she was transmitting from up around Jacksonville, quite a ways north of Bethel Shoal. She didn't get down there until around May 11.

So now that's at least two we have in the area ... :D

Not according to this report:

Great white shark tracking towards S. Fla. | News - Home

Katherine's satellite tag was transmitting from off Jacksonville on May 6th, and there's no tag on the shark in the video. She's got quite the alibi. I think I'll trust OCEARCH's position data over the local news broadcast.

I stand corrected! Either way she's down our neck of the woods now. Wanna go find her? :)

I'd love to, but I have work (and a report deadline) tomorrow and the weather is looking sucktastic for the weekend. I have a gut hunch by Saturday or Sunday she may be hanging around the Duane or the Spiegel Grove, but I have my doubts that the Key Largo boats will be going out in projected 20-25 knot winds. Inside the reef line it's supposed to be unpleasant. Outside it's supposed to kick up to 5-9 feet. If one of the boats is willing to try I could be talked into it, but I've seen milder conditions keep everyone at the dock.
