Hey, great video! One day I hope to be able to dive there, but in terms of $/dive it's sooooo expensive....

Interesting comments about 25fps vs 50fps. I've been using the latter so that I can have the option of slo mo in post, but I'm also coming round to the idea that I may as well just shoot in 25p. I've hacked my GH2 so the bitrate is 50 Mbps for both formats anyway.

Cheers,
Matt

Thanks matt. It depends on what is the final output format. If it is 25p it's better to use 1/50 shutter speed in any case. For the recording format this was not a macro trip so no slow motion needed

It has been a great trip though I would have liked to see some more hammers.
Hammerheads seem to be somewhat common here in West Palm Beach and Jupiter. We have a few Dive Ops that specialize in shark dives. I just can't convince my wife to do one with me.:idk:

You should go and do the dive really. I have now done some analysis on the footage and based on that I would say that my set up was ideal in terms of settings and equipment. Even if I did not have the filter it would have made a very marginal difference in terms of image quality with the shutter at 1/50

I saw those when looking for the Aditech/Mangrove filter I selected. It's looks very similar to that manufacturer's line of filters. Did using that pop-on filter cause any reflection issues? I've heard the pop-on ones are more prone to that. I might have tried one of those if I could have found one that fit the odd size of the Wetmate.

Not with the inon lenses that have 5 elements all coated with anti reflective plus I also have a hood on the lens

So did you find mounting the UWL-H100 more compatible with the Rx100II Nauticam housing and easier to mount? I think I remember from your blog that you had some issues with that lens and the LX7 housing.

On the subject of shutter speed, I wonder if slowing down my shutter would be beneficial on a darker dive like the Spiegel Grove. Would it be necessary to reduce the frame-rate with the reduced shutter speed and/or would the bit-rate loss be too much of a trade off?
